My country has following political groups.
- Ultra Nationalist. They are mostly mid-income or lower income people. Particularly youth are interested in nationalism. They are less educated. They are not motivated for democracy. Their foreign policies are hawkish. They target Imperialism, Kurds, Arab and Europeans (pretty much everyone). Their vote is about 15 percent. They are also conservative religiously.
- Kemalist. Secular Nationalist/Left. They are upper mid-income people. They are more educated. These people target rising new economic class of Islamic Democrats (current government). Their vote is about 20 percent. The rich favor protectionism favor this.
- Muslim Democrats: Moderate Muslims and have liberal values (liberla secularism, liberal economy. They focus on economic development. They are conservatives similar to Christian Conservatives in Germany, or UK. Their vote is about 30 percent. Small business, mid size business support them.
- Kurdish seperatists. They are former marxist/leninist. They are alevi (a sect of Shias) very liberal and secular. They got 5 % vote.
- Left: Internationalist Left. Mostly University Students and Union members. They got 5 percent vote.
- Liberals: About 15 percent. They have unofficial coalition with the current government. They like EU centric policies.
- Islamist. About 10 percent. Typical islamic radicals.
So my question is how is Gambian political structure. Based on my interaction with the group members. I can say
- Jammeh supporters seems like more than 50 percent. (I think it is a good thing at least he is able to unify smaller marginal groups). Jammeh seems like get support from African Nationalist/Islamist and some specific ethnic groups. Am I wrong? Jolas, Wolof? Am I wrong?
- Jammeh opposition. As diverse as Jammeh supporters.
But it looks like there are more specific groups.
- African Nationalists. - Islamic radicals. - Seculars - Ethnic - Democrats/Radical Seculars
So division is not economic/economic class. The division is mostly based on religion/ethnic. Am I wrong?
If there was an election today for more specific polictical choice, for example. (I am serious about these choices)
Mandinka Farmer Union 20 % Wolof City Rangers 15 % Jola is Taking Over Union 10 % Kayjatta Go West Regardless Union 10 percent Santa Muslim Union 20 % Aku/Sere United Union 2 % Rasta for Legalize 10 % Senegambia Falafal and Grocery Union 3 % I oppose anything about Jamma Karamba Union 1 % Toubab 69ers singles revolution union 1 % Bumpster freedom party 8 %
Am I wrong?

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

| Turk, shame on you,you are fully aware of how seriously some posters take politics on Bantaba in cyberspace, how can they ever start a discussion here again after you have listed the breakdown of political choices in The Gambia. |
"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
