I was doing salsa, merenge, zouk. Now I am more into Rumba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Quick Step, Cha Cha, Samba and the best dancing style: Tango.

It is so much fun. No, not fun. It is obsession for me. Good Exercise. Social. And now I want to learn West African dances. I will make sure when I go back to Gambia/Senegal, I will spend time learning west african dances. Anyone know any professional dancer in Gambia?

I figured I can pass this skills to my daughter if she is interested in. Earlier is better as I see this girl just 18 dancing with perfect moves. She has started at the age of 12!!!!!

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

OK if that is not african, what is it? Asian, Australian, American, European, South asian. And last time I checked wolof and manding are part of west african culture. No?

OK. Janko. Let me try again.

Sorry for creating a confusion for you. When I refer 'west african dance' I was refering the dance from the west african region of the world. I don't know how else describe the dances from that region. Do you have any term for it? If you do, let me know. I did not meant the dance from 'east africa', 'south africa', 'north africa', 'south america', 'north america', 'europe', 'asia', moon and mars.

Thanks turk, I get your point

I agree with you that dancing is good for your health, for teambuilding, therapy, training concentration, for different types of handicap and so fort- but calling it West African dance is to see the three for the forest and stereotypical.

What am driving at is the generalization, in West Africa there are many dances, each language group has at least two dances and each dance has a name. There are traditional dances like lengengo, kaajoo etc. and there are hybrid dances like; Afro-funk, Afro-street, these are dances developed from traditional dances. So, ask the name of the dance you want to dance.

Well, i am not sure which dance. But I am interested in this more for my daughter( to be honest )than myself. African dance/music something I wish she has some interests. It is little bid difficult as I do not have much knowledge about it, but I guess when I am in Gambia, I will inquire about it. I don't wanna her to tell me in the future, she could have learn about her culture more. If i get familiar with it and perhaps participate, it may motivate her. I am more interested in fast moving traditional dance where different tribes in senegambia region dance. My dream is to dance with ma daughter hmmm waltz when she grows up. And african dance and music are something I think one of the better ones.

10x lemon. Nice one. I see the girl and I am not sure i can keep up with her. lol
