Folks,
We lived to witness yet another July 22nd. This is the darkest cloud that ever hung onto the skies for Gambians. Since the so-called revolution came to hatch, the way of life of the ordinary Gambian has changed. People are in constant fear and terrorized beyond imagination, notably innocent people are accused of witch craft activities; journalists and political activists are continually maimed, arrested and jailed; the justice system has been in the trash cans, just to recap some instances. What is certain, true liberation will not come over night. It cannot come unearned. It cannot come unsought for. It cannot come with our swords down. If you believe you and your people are truly oppressed, and you are free from hypocrisy and selfishness, you must fight to redeem your people…and you must!
HOW TO DO THIS FIGHT? The only route here is unity. We cannot win this war divided. We cannot win this war by dwelling on our differences of all sorts. After all is said and done, what boot the dictator out is the votes. What make the votes is the people, and we are the people.
HOW TO LOOSE THE WAR? Once we continually keep fighting and bringing one another down, that’s how! Once we are not focused on what is at stake, and continually keep murmuring, complaining and living the lives of crabs, then for sure, Jammeh is going to reign as long as he likes. To bring change, we must do something about it.
CAUTION Instead of the blame game and grilling of politicians, we all must ask ourselves now…what little thing can I do? Take a bucket and fetch water for a sweating politician to take bath; pass the message of enlightenment around; support them morally, financially and physically where possible.
As far as I am concerned, today is a day of deep reflection. Instead of joining the rogue administration for celebration, we should take time off to reflect on our gone mates, our oppressed fellows and the many ‘prisoners of conscience.’ To those that believe, this was a deserved change, you are entitled to an opinion. In God’s name, I pray that we are soon liberated from Jammeh’s clutches of tyranny. Amen!
Down with tyranny! Down with witch hunters!! Forward with the Gambia!!!
