...well it appears the ramifications have begun already...the last I heard we [Gambia] took 40 players to Senegal to have them tested.

Thanks Mansa. GFA will not hide what will eventually be known to the public. They are not going to take ineligible players to Nigeria are they. I can understand player/personal confidentiality but but relaying to the public the number of players rendered ineligible as a result of the MRI scanning like the Nigerian FA did in the name of transparency would have done no harm. |

The president of the Gambia FA, Seedy Kinteh, has admitted some players who helped win the African Under-17 Championship have failed age tests. A total of 51 Gambian youngsters underwent MRI scans in Senegal to help determine their ages ahead of the upcoming Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria. "Very few of the players failed the test," Kinteh insisted. When asked if any of those who had failed the test had played at the African Under-17 Championship in Algeria he replied: "Yes, I'd need to check, but it can't be more than 2 or 3." Following the tests a squad of 28 players was named for a training camp that begins in the UK on Friday.

Sources close to the team have it that at least 11 members of the 18-man squad that won the African U-17 Cup in Algeria were giving the axe in what could be described as the first phase of a massive dropping exercise, which comes barely a week after the players underwent a FIFA mandatory tests to determine their ages.
Goalkeeper duo Musa Camara and Famara Bojang, strikers Alasana Camara and Abdoulie Jatta, defenders Abdou Njie and Matarr Jobe are among the players dropped last weekend.
A frantic effort by Observer Sports to ascertain whether the decision to screen the players was based on the results of the tests or performance grounds proved futile.

This is exactly the result of withholding information from the public that would have done no harm to anybody concerned. It breeds speculation and conspiracies. |

Thanks to technology, I think FIFA finally caught up with prevalence of cheating thats been going on. I am not at all surprised by the results. We have fielded overaged footballers knowing full well that they were old enough to father kids they were playing against. |

Indeed Mansa. This is a national disgrace if the Observer sources are right. And to top it all the cheats were a million dalasis richer most probably from taxpayers' money, thank to a childish president. |

LOL..that's funny . I'm surprise that only 11 of them were found guilty. Shaka, what happens next, are they going to refund the professor's money? I'd assume so, since they fraudulently obtained the money!
Will FIFA strip them off the CAF U-17 title? |

The Sheikh must first tell us where he got his money from if he were to excused from this crime. I do not think there is anything Fifa can do to to strip them of the title because it will mean developing another MRI test tool to determine if they where over aged when they won the title. That would probably open up all sorts of queries and unnecessary precedence for Fifa to answer. Like are they going to give the same treatment to all previous winners? Let's just look forward to the future. |
