I think it is fitting to this topic. FYI, these are some of the minds masquerading around as 'preachers of doom' hence the reason for this forward under this topic. If someone can despise God like the author of that piece, where is the so-called tolerance, acceptance, etc...? If such a mind should preach, don't you think he should benefit himself first?

Yes Kay i have also heard the disciples of Nastradamus spin so much claims of clairvoyance about their prophet that i forget to listen. There are many ways of ejecting 'an unsustainable' government. It is either by legal or illegal means. If you are telling me that the situation in the Gambia is so much so unsustainable that you are willing to support an illegal toppling of government or foster the speculation of any such attempt then i'd say you are mad and you are in a very small minority. That you have not learnt the lessons of history and that you should at least visit the motherland and gauge the mood of the masses. To those who espouse violence and illegitimacy i'd say, Jammeh has his revolution, believes in his revolution and is ready to die for his revolution. There are thousands of Gambians with an equal passion for this revolution. Are you ready to die for your revolution? Let no one fool you that you believe in the freedom and liberty of the individual more than i do. Not everyone who preaches against violence is a defender of the status quo. I do not enjoy any benefits or privililedges from the status quo any more than you do. I like to believe that i am a student of history who does not want to repeat its mistake, thats all.

Anyone who seriously want to democratically topple the Jammeh regime must first accept and respect the fact that he has a revolution and that the masses believe in his revolution. The most effective democratic counter revolution is to educate the masses first. Students of history will tell you that the poor masses "won't believe in what they do not see. It is not heaven they believe in, it is the priest" In Jammeh they have their High Priest who makes them believe in the heaven he is going to give them. That heaven include thousands of kilometres of tarred roads, grand buildings that only look good from the outside for hospitals, markets and schools. Street lights and electricity for even small villages. An arch and an airport expansion. Milling machines and tractors. School buses and functional vehicles. Ferries and bridges among others. You see Kay, to the poor who lived in the Gambia captured in 'Baffour's beef' Jammeh has given them heaven. To them Jammeh is a god. He can tell them that has a cure for every ailment and they will run to him with their illness. He can tell them that he can see through their hearts and read their thoughts and they will believe him. He can tell them that his demons are on the loose and nobody should venture outside their home after twilight. The streets would be empty by seven o'clock in the evening. Jammeh understand the language of revolution more that his critics gives credit for. He only have to request airtime on 'his television' and spread his propaganda. While the lesser priests in the form of the Imams, Alkalos, District Commissioners, Chiefs and Yai Compins extend his message to even the most remote villages of all.

Nobody can defeat Jammeh in any democratic elections in his 'heaven' without a mass education of the poor people. The poor masses are not informed enough to give damn about the theories of democracy, freedom of speech and liberty. Do you think they will stay at home and not go to the market to get food or work because a journalist is arrested or Mile Two welcome another guest? Is is safe to go out will be all they want to know. While they will be immediately be reminded by the priests that it is only a conveyor of 'western propaganda' and counter revolutionary who got locked up. It is only the fat cats, the wealthy the counter revulutionary and the deluded of yesteryear who want to claim back their privileges by taking bread from the mouth of the poor they would be told. Did we not have Jawara, Dibba and all oligarchs of yesterday enjoying the 'heaven' that they refused you?

To topple this regime we need a complete renaissance of the current mindset of the masses. We need to encourage and assist opposition political leaders on the ground who are equally passionate and ready to die for the cause like Jammeh is to his revolution. Men and women in the Gambian who will always speak out against the daily injustice meted out to our people without fear of being arrested, not seasonal politicians. A visible leadership who are ready to walk the walk and talk the talk, not those who only speak out because they have parliamentary immunity. A leadership who can make the masses understand that their sovereignty lie in their hands not the hand of a despot. A leadership who can make the masses understand that their elected leaders can only speak and act on their behalf not think and act for them. A leadership who will call to account every single butut borrowed and spent by government on behalf of the pepople. Where their voices are stifled and the medium they need to carry out this functions is blocked, the diaspora opposition will step in. We will never achieve this goal of educating the masses if the diaspora online media is reduced to lie peddling, speculation, slandering, fear mongering, a place to slaughter each other's character and kill off the aspirations of those who are willing to sacrifice their lives for the cause even before they take their first step, all in the name of breaking news. We want a diaspora media to tell us how government projects are functioning, who is financing them, are the people getting their money's worth from the various government services. How are loans being repaid, why are the masses not able access loans and credit facilities. Why is it despite a university and so many schools the capacity of Gambia to develop is hampered so much by lack of professionals as noted by the recent global competitveness study? How come the GRA is always announcing record amounts of revenue collected while the cost of basic necessities soars to the sky? Damn you are turning me into a parrot. Enough for now.

Shaka you have spoken for me. Intellectual Lilliputs like me find it difficult to put up such coherent ideas in such a brilliant way.

Even the erratic Kay is humbled.

This is what i call political maturity.God bless.

Thanks Shaka.

PEACE, one will not respect it unless you are part of it.
One will not know it unless you search for it.
One will not cry for it until you lost it.
One neither will demand it until you lost your love ones.
One will not respect it until you lost everything that you have.

Spending most of my childhood in Serra Leon and Liberia so i know what am talking about these countries.
To those searching for success should learn from the lands that have passed over it and still struggling for normal daily life.

Please let us hold onto the little peace we have!

Shaka I am awed by that piece. Thanks for putting those thoughts in a context I could only dream of. Seriously, I will take that piece as collateral any day.

"...Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest..." Sura Al-Rad (Chapter 13, Verse 28)

...Gambian by birth, Muslim by the grace of Allah...
