With such short intervals between one coup and the next, how much is Chief Yaya the man he portrays being loved by a nation whose people now want tearing him apart by coup?

Reminds me of rolling stones, these cycles of arrests and detentions. It seems we are going to hear of repeats as this is what follows such allegations and the not to be missed parades of so-called coupists on GRTS where they make confessions of their sins, this is a the worst nightmare any nation had to endure. I always pray that the news ends up being mere rumours and thus avoid hearing about the followed arrests and kangaroo trials.

I am reliably informed that there is no such thing. However the rumour started when the man decided not to attend the Ecowas meeting in Nigeria some three or four weeks ago at the last minute. The man is even travelling to Egypt today. NO coupists are paraded on TV either. Nothing in the local papers.Sankareh and his trash of a paper can't do any better. Only the vulture could tell.

A well kept secret, or as quoted above:
"...Sankareh and his trash of a paper can't do any better..."

The mass journalists arrests is true though.

Thanks Kitabul, although I do not really like your clones, you have raised important facts. I recognize that the Echo's story must be taken caustiously, but I would further like to ask Madiba these:
1. why did the president canceled his trip to ECOWAS (a very important trip) at the very last minute?
2. The Echo has given names of some of the people arrested. Do you have proof that the alleged arrests did not take place?

Kitabul what are you on? This report is about a coup which never was. These yell-oo journalists are just good at sniffing a bit of news and encapsulate or weave it with speculation, deceit and lies.
The fact is there were arrests yes. At the Banjul International Airport, yes. Security yes. what for? read on:

Kay,

Attimes you amaze me. I believe your level of education and intelligence should have saved you from bigotry and living on the cheap.

Jammeh is human. His decision could have purely been human. He could have been ill. Other better things to take care of at the home front.

90% of my family is in The Gambia. So those who are praying for a mayhem becos of a single person(Jammeh) are very selfish of them.

No no no, Madiba you are not answering the questions. I know that there could be thousands of reasons for Jammeh to cancel his trip.
However, my question is whether you know why he canceled the trip? Yes or no?

Kay,

Here i am. I think i have answered your question. Its Jammeh's prerogative to attend or not to any forum, since he could be adequately represented. Its wrong to premise on the coup that never was as a reason for the cancellation.

If speculative journalism feeds your information desires enjoy yourself bon appetit

Madiba, i hope you are fine. One thing that you kept reppeating here is the junk or crap journalism statements. But one wonders why you always fail to also mention that, there is a man incharge of the Gambia who will rather have praise singers than real journalist. when his administration always make sure that, news is hard to get, what do you want Gambians who want alternative news to do? since you wouldn't come out with any news other than the state sanction one, any news now is taken as a mix and match. Gambians aren't silly or naive Madiba, they know the news online are sometimes speculative, but what can they do? how many murders have been committed in the Gambia without serious news coverage of those issues yet whilst you cry over sankareh and his paper? Wasn't it Sankareh who exposed Lamin Sabbi sanyang and his thieving? wasn't it Sankareh whose paper reveal many other news items that were later proof beyound reasonable doubts? In as much you may have issues with Sankareh, give the guy some credit. He is of more use to us in terms of journalism than you, unless you are a hidden mogul.
Again, your sources might not be that reliable, so no need for the chest pumping yet. I like Jammeh for one thing, he spectacularly turn against his helpers anytime he deems fit. I like that. his praise singers are those he banish than his enemies. We all hate the fact that, some innocent men of the GNA may be locked up for a sad man's cowdice and paranoia. it is young poor Gambians soldiers who suffers anytime Jammeh's panick button is alerted, so this is no mery news. I only hope that, more young men aren't locked up for a sick man's unstable suspicion.

Great read, Santanfara. Relying on "Local Media" in present day Gambia, that's being suffocated with arrests and litigations is futile.

Kitabul Arerr,

Whenever I read about events in Gambia on Home Based sites, my instinct dictates that something is true about sources like Sankareh on same issue. There is a certain trend to observe. Sankareh is not in the business of Joni 'Joni Joni Kang Kang News'

I concur with Santanfara by his observation that Lamin Sabi Sanyang and many others have been earlier exposed by Sankareh and time proved him right. Therefore there is good reason to buy stories from Gambia Echo. If in the possible occasion that something turns wrongly sourced, Sankareh knows what to expect.

Now, to crux of matters at hand. Does anyone know why some officers have been arrested recently for what was deemed SECURITY LAPSES?

Who's security has been compromised?

Lord have mercy.

Again, after given a second chance, Madiba refused to answer my question "whether he knew why Jammeh canceled his trip to the ECOWAS meeting at the very last minute" as reported by THE ECHO. The answer requires a yes or no, yet Madiba fled into escapism again by launching personal attacks on Kayjatta; calling him a "bigot" and "living on the cheap". I am not sure where Madiba borrowed those words from (perhaps from GAINAKO's neurotic, border-line Baghdad Bob), but they are inappropriately used.
Madiba's refusal or simply inabiity to understand and answer a simple yes-or-no question indicates the futility in further engaging him (and his GAINAKO big brother) in any debate.
Baffour Ankomah of the New African magazine paraphrased an American attorney back in 1994 that "if the law is on your side, then you argue the law; if the law is not on your side, then you just pound the table". Since the facts are not on Madiba's ( and his GAINAKO editor's) side, they have since resorted to "pounding the table" by hauling insults at kayjatta instead of arguing on the merit of the facts.
The truth of the matter is that Madiba is not an honest person. His assumptions also are that:
1. because I forwared an article from THE ECHO about a reported coup in the Gambia, I am in fact affirming that there was an attempted coup in the Gambia,
2. because I forwarded the article from THE ECHO about a reported coup in the Gambia, I am in fact wishing "mayhem" in the Gambia,
3. because I raised a question of 'why Jammeh canceled his trip to the ECOWAS meeting', I in fact affirmed the coup story in the Gambia.

All of these assumptions by Madiba are fallacies. By forwarding the article, kayjatta is only seeking a debate, divergent views, so as to get clarification about the report. Instead of just providing his views, Madiba thinks Kayjatta should be 'hanged'.
On the other side of the world the fossilized 'T-Rex' at GAINAKO also thinks that since Kayjatta said that he does not read GAINAKO, he should be cursed and 'hanged'.
Sounds like typical Gambian thing? You bet! No wonder sycophancy is a normal passtime in our communities. No body wants to hear the truth; all they indulge in is peddling lies and 'sweet words' to one another knowing they do not deserve any of it. I have to say that I am privileged to know a lot of Gambians who do not fit into this category, however I tend to believe that they are a deviation from the norm. The Daltons and the Madibas are the norm certainly ...
