Editor,

Thank you, Omar Jallow, for your wonderful contribution. And boy! You hit the nail right on the head. It is about time for some of our Gambian folks to understand that this is a brand new day and you need to wake up and smell the coffee. Remember!!! President Jammeh has transcended the individual phase and he is now a movement that is taking The Gambia to higher heights. Leaders come and go but each one of them will leave a legacy behind that becomes a platform for future generations to ascend.

Gone are the days that Kerewan was called "Kerr Warru." Who would have ever thought that there would be a bridge and a classic highway that links Barra and Laminkoto? Sankulay Kunda and Jangjangbureh were reduced to ghost towns due to lack of adequate infrastructure that dampened economic activity. Thank God! The funds have been provided for the construction of a bridge over the McCarthy Island and the rest is history! Gone are the days that our technocrats were proud to be associated with the so-called “Mafia Group” and with the improper and misleading advice emanating from the defunct National Investment Board they defrauded us of viable institutions like GPMB, NTC, GPTC and Gambia Commercial and Development Bank among others.

The cyber warriors that also double as arm chair revolutionist; get off your soap box and be patriotic Gambians. Sponsor a child in need; adopt a school; adopt a village; and establish an NGO. Visit The Gambia occasionally and spend some money. Start up an investment. Sponsor a family member to start a business, hence charity begins at home. Stop mudding up the waters, we all drink from the same pond and one day the chicken will come to roost.

I fully concur that our local media must come up with positive images that reflect the realities. This is a marketing avenue that will attract tourists and Gambians in the diaspora to come home occasionally to spend money and impact socio-economic growth. The Tourism ministry; please encourage local Gambians to embark on inland tourism. Gambians in the urban areas must embark on conducted tours of the hinterland for educational, cultural, recreational and economic reasons.

The Tourism ministry in collaboration with the ministry of Trade and other relevant ministries must revitalize the ‘Lumos’ (weekly market) and have trade fairs, flea markets, Sunday markets, cultural events, food festivals, harvest festivals and reintroduce a barter system for cash trap consumers. Our able Tourism ministry must recognize the economic impact of our fellow Gambians in the diasporas; encourage and entice them to visit quite often and spend their FOREX in The Gambia. Let’s get busy and make hay whilst the sun shines.

Editor,

I am becoming a frequent writer not because I want to be on the web page every time, but because of the interest and love I have for my nation. It is not easy writing articles everyday, but can I stop it? "No". A million times "NO" as long as the disowned people whom every country will want to do away with continue to be very irresponsible in their so-called freedom of expression, hiding behind the name of journalism or politics.

Should The Gambia continue to be a peace maker in other nations or should we invite people to come and keep the peace for us? May God forbid. Almost on an hourly basis most Gambians away go online to know the developments in the country. So our day starts by what type of news we read over the internet. I agree with the author who wrote, saying “let’s stop making fools of ourselves online".

I must thank that author for the message, and I am happy that majority of Gambians are waking up. I know we can’t agree on everything going on in The Gambia, be it political or developmental, but one thing that we can all agree on is the wish for a rapid development of the country and to continue to maintain the peace that The Gambia is known for.

So why should people who think living abroad is haven for them, causing them to go online, confusing everyone, turning almost everyone to become a writer or politician just for the sake of their egoistic intent? We wake up in the morning to find out what development or news is in the country, but only to find out on some online newspapers news that will compel us to call our families to find out if they are having their daily meals or they are safe? What is all this for?

It is good that most people are conscious and most are becoming aware of the intention of certain disowned elements. I believe that many of them can’t stop it because it is what they use to seek asylum. So they will never turn back to say good things about the country. That’s why no positive news is read on their websites. But what is important is that the rest of people are becoming aware of this.

How can one exchange their country for their personal interest? Most of them see themselves as believers, yet after putting big lies online the next minute they get up to pray using God’s name. They can fool about but they cannot fool God, from whom they seek prosperity everyday. Please, it is The Gambia we have; even if most of us think where we are is heaven, we must also remember that we have our everything back home. Our political differences or personal grievances with the government should not make us wish The Gambia to become another Iraq.

I know some are out there to tell us how much they can play with words, using words that I for one would need dictionary to understand what they are getting at. However, all what we need to do if it is true that we in the diaspora have the interest of our country is to see to it that we contribute to complement government’s efforts, which I believe many others are doing, rather than painting lies about The Gambia.

Many of us here are not even feeding our families we left back home or even contributing in educating our brothers and sisters, but we are ready to talk about what we think our government has failed to do. The saddest of all is that many qualified people do not even accept to go back home and work for the country, but we will say government cannot pay us because if we convert our pounds and dollars, which God knows how we are getting them, it is more than the salary of our ministers. So should we not blame ourselves for putting our interest before national interest?

Then let’s stay away from anything that is dividing our people or calling for another Iraq. We can express our differences in ways that the peace, tranquility and whatever our country is known for will continue to prevail rather than to bring hatred among tribes, families, religions or races. We are just a fraction living away, but each of us has three quarter of their loved ones living back home. Should we continue to wish this people to suffer or should we think of ways of uniting them to work together for the betterment of Our Dear Mother Land? We can run but we cannot hide in the eyes of God and all of us will one day be judged. Thank you to all those who anticipate The Gambia becoming one family as it used to be, and may God continue to punish all those who want to see a divided Gambia, which will never be.

Let’s all have the same goal and objectives for our country, which is peaceful and developing thick and fast gaining the admiration of the rest of the world. I wish all the ones in darkness to one day come to light, for The Gambia to continue to be the Smiling Coast. For journalists who engage in hate writings, they need to protect the integrity of their profession before calling for freedom of expression.

From the two postings above I have picked out one small piece that should sum up the aspirations of ALL Gambians from the highest to the lowlest, here it is:

"Thank you to all those who anticipate The Gambia becoming one family as it used to be, and may God continue to punish all those who want to see a divided Gambia, which will never be."

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.

A Moelly quote, or better, scribbled: "The cyber warriors that also double as arm chair revolutionist; get off your soap box and be patriotic Gambians. Sponsor a child in need; adopt a school; adopt a village; and establish an NGO. Visit The Gambia occasionally and spend some money. Start up an investment. Sponsor a family member to start a business, hence charity begins at home. Stop mudding up the waters, we all drink from the same pond and one day the chicken will come to roost..."
End quote?
Just a Moelly quote, from the echo chamber! Needs tweaking........a noise, made by an *****, full of nonesense and fury, signifying nada...................................lol!

Remote controlled Moelly. It's not your fault.
Just following orders? Not according to my scientists though! Hard at work to neutralize the Moelly jumpiness.
