The Poem below is adopted from the Late Dr. Lenrie Peters and teachings of Islam. In his famous poem, “We Have Come Home”, Dr. Peters talked about death, which marks the end of a man’s struggle on earth. It happens that Islam also talked a lot about life and death. The poem is freely written, though it adopted partially Dr. Peters’ poetry bashing.

"We Have Come Home"

The cold hands of death cutting aloud
The horizons of skies like thunder echoes
And the “Malaika Mawt” is on course
Descending on that soul as assignment
When the night unfolds, as it must with darkness
Dawn layering the distant horizons with brightness
And the rising sun peeping through window outlets
On a man’s underground yard, as it must do
And there you sleep at home alone with silence
“What does it take to be loved?”
While being placed in a hole underground
Leaving behind all the world many goodies
To the highest lord, you must answer to with ease
For another promised world for beings on earth.

“We have come home! We have come home!”
“We have come home,” with prides of achievement
Our one time brain or wealth is gone to account
No more family, friends and fans to make us smile
But only our worldly deeds on record will echo
Wrapped in our glittering hand bags of witnesses
We must rely on, for a clearance passage on that day
The bridge of “Siraaat” at narrow strings across a bridge
To cross with caution with our souls full of hope
To another river bank full of heavenly pleasures
While being escorted by the noble angels of God
And you know with certainty of knowledge that
We have come home to the Hands of the lord
So in serene prayers, we asked for God’s mercy.

"There is no god but Allah (SWT); and Muhammad (SAW)is His last messenger." shahadah. Fear & Worship Allah (SWT) Alone! (:
