Oh you celestial beams Hanging out to view Glittering like crystals ablaze I wonder what makes you smile With all the gloom surrounding you A silent moon So cold to be cool With the distant sun So hot as to be burnt Yet you keep twinkling From your distant lodges
Shining stars Out in the skies Blink at me every night Telling me stories About the years gone by Those that you witnessed With those shiny eyes As they scanned the universe
The cold sad moon Passing by At times gets a veil To muffle her passage Through her celestial mansions At times with two sharp horns Some times as a big smiley face Avoiding the hot angry sun As it threatens to burn all that come close In that gloomy space So far away I get told
Shiny eyes out in the skies Witnessed glory and doom The rise and fall of man Over the years gone by But silently stay away unconcerned Only watching the earthly show Remaining on guard Seen and unseen you still remain In your distant lodges Keeping watch over the whole wide world Missing nothing that passes by Day or night On dutiful watch
At times you go shooting Sending fiery balls in the skies Some say to kill the devil Out on the prowl Giving a scenic show A celestial beauty From you stations at night To keep us safe
Oh you shiny stars Out at night Give us a wink From your twinkling sets In various hues Like scattered gems on display Making me wish I could get one of you as my own But you stay out of my reach So I only get the joys Of watching your smiles From so far away
