Kay, you are indeed a lierary critic, and a good one at that too. Your observations are well noted, and I will surely bear them in mind in the future.
You are also spot on with regards to the literary devices, employed or not employed, in this story. You are also correct in your observations about the use of flashbacks, or the omniscient third person narrator, to get into the heads of the characters to know them better and to explore their backgrounds. However, the use of these devices are unfortunately beyond the scope of this present project. But as a good literary critic it did not escape your attention. Nice job.
This story is a sketch, an outline, with the potential of being developed further. But first I have to find the characters; second, I have to identify the locations; third, I have to develop a theme and lastly, I have to think about a plot that keeps the story moving. These were my main preoccupation as I write the story.
The character, Musukuta, is central to the story; she is the character that makes the story move. Thus, if I did not place her at the scene in Boston, the story will encounter difficulties to move to the next level. Now we have a conflict between Pa Musa and Brianna; and we also have a conflict between Pa Musa and Musukuta. These conflicts can form the basis of the narration in the second part. And this is the difficult part, I have only thought about the story up to the point where I am now.
