I will walk you to Soma There we can chat I mean flirt You and I
I will carry you on my back If you feel tired From the walk The pleasure is mine
I will buy you afraa The best in Jaara Selecting juicy tender bits Only for your pleasure Sharing the meats Caring for you my darling
You can drink a fanta A kiss would do for me Holding your beautiful face In my gaze Your amazing grace
I can climb the tallest tree If you want There at its top I shall shout My ever growing love For you and only you Waiting there for Your response in kind
We could go to Tendaba Cruising in silence Holding hands And little tender touches too If you like But if you reject my love I shall run to Bamba Tenda There I shall jump Into the swollen river Where I can hide my shame

Another very sad poem about rejected love, superbly written and full of meaning,I hope it does not mean that Kaanibaa is now going through this as a personal rejection and that the poem was written with feelings that the writer only imagined and put into words. Love is very powerful and is sometimes onesided leading to great heartache. |

Kaanibaa, thanks for this innovative and insightful one. As Santanfara and many others have said, it is time for a collection edition…what say you
I have to admit that the poem made me question the meaning of “kaanibaa”, hence “kaanubaa” in reference to the above poem, or ...keep it up

| Kaanu foro as Jaliba sang on the nice song Kutubo Dibba. Thanks for suggesting a compilation and I am also thinking in those lines .Only not having enough courage to go that way.I am willing to take on any help so why not .Toubab I am not in a lovers limbo, but fully engrossed in a full blown marriage happily living it too.I am at times sent back to memory lane when certain things as can be read from the poems were more real than can be imagined.Writing about feelings for a loved one wanting to be able to meet her needs and be accepted as well. It also reminded me of my youth when some of us boys always dread rejection from girls we approach. At times you see yourself or a mate withdrawing or running away when they meet the girl who rejected their approach , claiming or blaming it on embarrassment. Some would even tell you that there is malice between them and the said girl. It was not easy to conquer and failure was abhorred ; a taboo.Think about Romeo and Juliet okay. |

Kaanibaa, that was a very lovely poem! Thank you so much. And yes, Tendaba is a great place to be with a lover, sitting under the moon at the end of that wobbly pier and holding hands......... Toubab1020, it seems you are a romantic soul too, all these words about unanswered love. But then, we mustn't exaggerate: sometimes you think you cannot breathe without this one person. But hey! It turns out you can and even without any problem whatsoever ! |

| Hm yes Tendabaa, by the crocodile pool bar, a romantic place and very ideal for lovers to hide from probing eyes. I was there too and it was a real treat, loved it so much. Was I alone , no with my wife newly wed and we had a wonderful time there. Thanks guys for the kind words and various inputs. |
