Farafinna

Dark does not do your color honor
Yours is mix of all
The wellspring of man
Who sprouted the world
Spread to the wind dispersed
Now you sit in gloomy distress
Head bowed in shame
Your offspring swim in blood
Heedless to reason or simple sanity
From time immemorial
Yours was the dish of disdain
Slavers came and went with your children
In chains bound and gagged
Marauders came and divided your people
When the siren was set
Thought was that you will soon smile
Alas you shy away disgraced
Your sons proving unworthy of prevailing
In the face of all adversity
The same as others too face
Coming with glory gained
By dint of hard work and love for mother
Who welcomes the boys turn to men from the jungle
Today they sit to feast in victory
But you and your children morn endlessly
The loss of hope and glory
Gains that cannot be made
Resting on one's laurels
The wise though have given the sermon
Departing at sunset
Whiles others toil through the night
Your children chose to dream in their slumber
Seeing themselves in a land of plenty
Waking up to a droll reality
Endowed with all that you have
Pity that none is of any use
Except to make you suffer pernury
Like the singer sang
In the aboundance of water
The fool was thirsty
With all your wealth
Your children remain ever so poor
Who then will save them
Was the question
The answer though lie in an abyss
Hope is defeated
Remaining buried in the sands of Sahara
Which covered the trails of Solomon in Sabah
Where he courted the lovely queen of yore
Cry then Maama
For the loss of hope
Perhaps they will be shamed to see the way
Out of this chasm
This burning field set ablaze
Wherein grows no seed
But the fury of greed

Warga is too much around here. You and suntou get the furnace going and invite me to the table...and i will join..

If you send me your address, be certain to have a whole bunch.
I stopped drinking it a while, all of a sudden my hanging-out friends are warga drinkers. Little by little, I am on it again on weekends only.

Nice lines again.

Farafinna, resembling the picture/description of Africa is echoing loud sermons. For one thing that is certain, for the longest, Mama Africa has been a victim of tragedies everywhere. Africa was not spared by slave masters. It is not spared by worthless sons like dictators, seen jumping around every where. africa, known to be rich...is today considered a developing nation. Others will even say the dark continent. Despite all these, Africa....you still stand tall..
thanks,
D...

Thanks for the invite, bro Dalton attaya is allegedly addictive ,so I have to give it up.I watch my wife sipping in that funny way each time she drinks it and make me wonder why many attaya fans do so. Any way you have once again shredded the poem, May we see the rebirth or shall we call it renaissance of Africa in our life time seeing that for now though , such a prospect seems ever so gloomy. Many other dominions have weathered the storm whatever form it took and came out stronger and more resilient, whereas ;the opposite is what obtains for Beautiful Maama Africa.
