what is evident in the writers statement, is that he was writing to a muslim readers and those readers understand his point of view. non-muslims of course wouldn't understand what his issues are. all that you can querry is your dislike for his opinion which he is not addressing to a non-muslim person. each and every person holds onto what believes in, eaither a religion, a philosophy, a material, a process, a race or whatever. sometimes people address their co-religionist in strong words which those people comprehend. if any one wish to enjoy valentines, he/she is free to do. the writer just expressed his opinion and i support his stance although differ with him on some of his choice of words.
valentine is tomorrow, i hope to see flowers around then.
Tam, i hope you continue the Serere history at your leizure. reading samory's history, i found out that he did once engage the Serere rulers once. i haven't the time to thoroughly read the incident. Serere control was strong, why has the language reduce in influence, especially in Senegal? you can answer in a seprate topic if you like. thanks. |

Well, if one take it as part of religion .then…I personal don’t have problem with such a small culturally mix but as religion? No thank you. The Valentine's Day is an invention of Fleuron and the chocolate industry. Christian tongues attribute the Valentine's Day to the holy Valentine then why not calling Juno, the lady proteectionist of the marriage and family than origin of this custom.
