This is a whopping increase in rent D40,000 to D100.000,I bet there is a bit more here than meets the eye, never the less if the landlord wants his property back and the tenant cannot pay then the court must give it back must it not ?

It must. I blame the authorities. You cannot grant a license for a school on rented property. The result is that once the tenency ends, you have a number of students with no wehere to go. They should encourage schools to own their land before they are licensed.
The disruption right now is of consequence and which shcool will take them? Schools are mushrooming in verey bedroom these days and its not uncommon to find an Institute in a two bedroom apatrment claiming certification from an unknown college in the UK also housed in a Council Flat. There is a term for this in the UK. Its derogatory and dont want to get there. But its a term that one of the princes used recently to attract a headline. |

Kons. What you say is right, its about time that "Schools" and "Colleges" came under greater scrutiny from the Authorities,But its probably too late now in the UK it's again all about money not education for those who want to improve themselves.I do not know of any published incidents of " Council house bedroom" schools or "Colleges" but I am sure they exist, have you any links that you could provide,so this topic could be aired to a greater extent? |

I dont have any but walking the streets of banjul you will find gold printed Diplomas from Institues that you will be hard pressed to find any one on the streets of London to have heard of. How many times have we seen adverts in local newspapers of officials from these schools recruiting students in the gambia through some institutes in the gambia. You are promised a certification from an accredited institute. I ahve not seen any one who managed to have a student visa to attend these institutes. May the Embassy has not heard about them. Just keep reading the local papers and one will pop up some day.
Every one has a Diploma in Marketing, or Business Management, or Travel and Tourism. These are the three main areas popular to students. |

I know what you mean, maybe its a case of the authorities turning a blind eye to this because hope of getting a job in Europe gives students a feeling of advancement, its not until the courses finish that reality may start to set in,too late then the money is gone. |
