YOU PEOPLE ARE "DELU GANAW CUM TAT" in Gambia most people who can afford it give birth in different countries so if the average GAMBIAN can afford it what makes you think the president can't?

Santanfara,
People with low moral bearing don't know right from wrong. For Chairman he is free to dip his crooked fingers in Gambia's public funds and dish it to his wife who is equally free to play with it.
Why will that woman prefer delivering her two children in America leaving behind all the incubators she promotes in RVH?

This was a statement made by our dear leader H.E. Jammeh on the new year. I am very inclined to show people like Bros Karamba and Santangfara that Jammeh is doing what is possible based on the situation an the ground. The fact that government cannot do all without the help of the citizens who also have obligations to do their quota of development towards their nation. Reading this statement would tell any open minded person that the man is as presidential as possible. So bros Karamba, Santangfara, Dalton and others, you are welcome to come and join us (Government not APRC) in helping our productive president to produce more. Happy new year to you all. Read along part of Jammeh´s statement.
"Fellow Gambians, You would agree with me that the business of developing a nation does not rest with the government alone, but is the responsibility of all Citizens. Government will continue to create the enabling environment for all citizens and Foreign investors to take up the challenge and the opportunities that abound for investment.
Reflecting on the other social sectors, we are proud to note the numerous achievements made in Health and Education. As most, if not all of you have realized, health is accorded a top priority on my Government's agendas for sustainable economic development. The Medical School, under the ambit of the University of The Gambia, and the significant increase in health facilities and medical personnel, respectively, substantiate this claim. Today, the Cuban doctors in the country and the Medical Technical Assistants from such countries as Egypt and the Federal Republic of Nigeria have considerably improved the health sector and its delivery system countrywide. In short, 2008, has been another very good year for this sector. This is evidenced by the 30% drop in the incidences of Malaria and related deaths.
In the area of education, I am happy to observe that achievements in this sector are so prominent that The Gambia now provides examples of best practices for emulation elsewhere. It is for this reason that The Gambia is the first country to implement the Basic Education in Africa Programme (BEAP), to be followed by Ethiopia and Ivory Coast, among others. The progress made in Early Childhood Education and the annexation of Early Childhood Development Centres to Lower Basic Schools is another model that has earned us commendation. In like manner, the unprecedented enrolment figures of girls at various levels of the education system and the strategies employed in this regard have been acclaimed internationally.
To the dismay of skeptics, the well-established University of The Gambia has now trained a good number of personnel for the much needed human resources capital for development. In addition to this, various Scholarship packages have been awarded in 2008 for University education overseas. These include the sending of 25 students to Taipei to study Civil Engineering, about 74 students in Venezuela to study various Science-related fields, and just yesterday, 18 Science students left for Malaysia. The support schemes, scholarship packages and career opportunities created through the tertiary institutions, will be further strengthened during the coming years, as a follow-up on interventions implemented during the course of the year that is ending.
Whilst in 2008 the Basic and Secondary Education sub-sector had to do without funding under the Education for All/Fast Track Initiative (FTI), approval has been secured for increased FTI support for the next three years — i.e., 2009 to 2011. Consequently, it is expected that very significant strides will be made from 2009 onwards through the implementation of the new Medium Term Plan. Importantly, though, at the higher educational level, Mathematics, the Sciences and Medicine will be accorded preferential treatment by my Government."

Bread Man,
You are such a good person and very sensible. This quoted message is well placed. Thank you in big ways for sharing out.
It has been said that Gambia's Financial Attache Lamin Sabi Sanyang was lured into coming to Gambia only to be caught in the electriic trap of the preisdent's NIA.

To have the president's own trusted key players lured and arrested is enough alert for others even with all good intention of going to serve the homeland.
Also, Bread Man, the seat of president is not designed for a single occupation. Your man came on the seat by force of arms and now insists quite unwilling to let go. Let him pass the seat over and get himself another good role to play if he is really sincere.
What he is doing goes beyond the limit. Like someone metioned before, even if he is to die today, there is ample blend of knowledge and wisdom to move Gambia further.
Not to disagree with you that H E is a presidential material, he is not THE ONLY presidential material. Let him pass the seat over. |

Thanks breadman for commenting on your presidents speech. If Jammeh is to be seen serious and patriotic, the best thing is to unseat himself from the presidentail seat and continue to invest his wealth as a patriotic entrepreneur and expert farmer. That way he is able to employe people directly from his personal investment. the position of president restricts him to do whatever he likes, but being a private investor he is free to hire and fire to protect his personal economic interest. as its stands Jammeh Musa as already overstayed on a seat that so many outstanding Gambians could have done equally like or even better. Overstaying without any constitutional limitations is an insult to other good and capable Gambians. Good night. |

Nice words but how about being realistic and call him our prezy and not just my prezy. To ask him to unseat himself will make him as undemogratic as you claim his July 94 take over was. You see, those that live in reality knows that Jammeh was democratically elected into office by the people of The Gambia and unseating himself will not serve the interest of us that voted him in. You need a more matured opposition and not these bunch of high intels who wants all by the book which never works anywhere anyway, and a bunch of hungry mice looking to enrich themselves. Create a vibrant opposition that is credible and can challenge us if you really want a good fight. In the meantime we remain the high authority and the guiders, interpreter and executors of our noble book. Welcome to the A(F)PRC if you want to belong to the winners. |

Breadman, if you live in the U.K, Tony Blair resign and hand power to Gordon Brown. What is more democratic than that? you need to open your eyes. Jammeh knew third world politics is such that even a donkey as a president is hard to removed. this is called the incumbent nonsence. To usser in genuine and credible democracy, Jammeh need to resign and set up an enterim government to prepare Gambians for a viable and nutral elections were the incumbent wouldn't take part, just like it happen in Ghana, Nigeria, etc. Jammeh has already rule the Gambia for over 14 years, that is enough time for him to do something different. two third limit is what genuine democrats advocate for , not the till death do us part or another filty coup.

Bread Man,
Will you let Gambians know why Yahya Jammeh alone has to stay on that seat till he dies?
Don't you consider how you might as well be a potential next president of Gambia? C'mon man, be strong!! |
