Alas freedom! who would have a chance to do this under Saddam Hussein? Did this guy ever had a chance to cover a report on Saddam's press conference? I think we all know the real dog is the one that was wrestled to the ground and drag outside on a leash ...

Bush took the incident quite loosely: „Whom is interests of the shoe size - it was a ten which has being threw on me. “he says.
Mr President that is not explosively, what am interested is what the man said to you which seems more explosive

Offcourse he can take it as a joke but is it not a unfair world? some people gets a shoes and some gets a bullets through their brains or chest,

Whats is freedom

I think Mr, Bush looked shaken and befuddle by the incident. Kind of reminded me of Ban kim Moon's attempts to get under the podium when an explosion rocked the green zone while he was at a press conference. Remarkably, Prime Minister Al-Maliki was present at both incidents and needless to say on both occasions he didn't flinch one bit. Alas! we know what brave men are made out of! Al-Maliki is two for two!

I'm quite certain that having a shoe thrown at you is a sign of respect in Iraq.

It basically says "I love you so much, I am willing to give you the very shoes from my feet."

It's sort of like how we would say ‘giving him the shirt off your back’.

Was anyone else involved? Was this guy the sole attacker?

‘GW’ has some kick-ass reflexes almost the reflexes of cat! Must be training with Chuck Norris!

I heard it was a terrorist group but they were operating on a shoe string budget…

I’ll miss ‘GW’…

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.

Specialization is for insects.

I think that Bush is Lucky that this brave guy had only a shoe in his position, otherwise we have would been talking about a different story today. In all honesty, I condemn what the man did- throwing a shoe which cannot be considered true justice under any rule of law. I also understand the frustration of the man. Who knows how many innocent relatives, friends and significant others that the man lost... I equally condemn Bush's invasion of the area and all his war-mongers everywhere.

The throw of the shoe.

As Bush ends his presidency, this is honestly not a good sign. In my culture, you cannot even point your bare feet to someone, much more beat them with a shoe. It is considered a 'curse' or some bad omen. That is the only way the man could have vented his frustrated.

Agreably, Bush is among the worst presidents that the U.S ever had. That said, we hope, an Obama presidency will change direction in policy; negotiate on the table with even alleged adversiries instead of going to war; talk instead imposing. The same with the half-arab hypocrities like Al-maliki.

A press release read on the TV station that employs the journalist demands his release "in accordance with the democratic era and the freedom of expression that Iraqis were promised by US authorities".

Freedom of expression and Democracy have consequences. And to a person who is a new convert, the mere taste of it is enough to want to fly to the heavens and back.

Indeed democracy is taking ground in that part of the world because i am not sure if anyone dared do this while Saddam was in office. A promise is a promise and like Bush said in 2004 that he had a political capital and he intended to cash it, it appears that this fellow seems to say that the promise of freedom to his people will be put to test on the very person who promised it.

Like they say in mandinka: "The only time you know that your student wrestler has come of skills, is when he throws you on the ground".

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

As he (Bush) gets more un-popular towards the ending of his presidency, he should stay at home. That is my sincere advise. Otherwise, he risk seeing many of the shoe-throwing drama, or even more. I am sure his advisors got this covered already.

None-the-less, we should still condemn the shoe throwing at him. That's my opinion at least. let others sound as well.

This is a true story okay, reported in the “Freedom” my Bible. You know they check the facts and re-check again.
The conversation that took place in an Iraqi jail where the “shoe attacker” Muntazer al-Zeidi was being detained. It was early morning at about 5 AM Monday. The conversation is between Ahmed, the prison guard and Al- Zeidi, the “shoe attacker”.

Ahmed: Breakfast! As Ahmed knocked on Al-Zeidi’s cell door.
Al-Zeidi: “Hamdullah”, maybe I will go home today. It’s been a horrible night here and I’m starving…; oh by the way where are my shoes? Hmm, trying to recall.
Al-Zeidi opened the metallic cell door and walked down the stairs to the breakfast counter and grabbed his plate. He started eating it with all the effort he could muster. Food in Iraqi jails is pretty bad.
Al-Zeidi: Where are my shoes? He asked Ahmed, the officer nearby as he put his empty plate down.
Ahmed: Your shoes? You did not come here with shoes; I guess President Bush has them.
Al-Zeidi: “Bresident Burrsh” has my shoes? Why?
Ahmed: Remember you threw your shoes at him during the press conference?
Al-Zeidi: I did? Those were my only shoes…
Ahmed: Yes that is what they said…
Al-Zeidi: No, that was for AL-Maliki, the friend of the infidels. I mean the occupiers…
Ahmed: Okay.
Al-Zeidi: So really where are my shoes? I need them…
Ahmed: I understand President Bush took your shoes with him to the U.S.
Al-Zeidi: My shoes are in “Amrique”? Are you kidding brother? Hamdullah, so I’m going to Amrique too, right?
Ahmed: I do not know. You might go to trial and then jail for insulting the state of Iraq.
Al-Zeidi: Insulting the state of Iraq? I didn’t do that. I cursed Al-Maliki and the occupiers with my dirty, stinking shoe. That’s all I did, nothing else…
Ahmed: Yes, they call you the “shoe attacker”.
Al-Zeidi: “Shoe attacker”? Am I Richard Reid?
Ahmed: No, no you are confusing these things my brother. Brother Richard Reid (may Allah be pleased with him) is the “shoe bomber”. Remember the London guy in the plane with the diamonds in his shoes? I mean explosives in his shoes? (laughter).
Al-Zeidi: Oh yeah, diamond, that's what we call it. Blue...uh white powder...diamond (laughter), its the infidels and the occupiers who call it explosives. Yes Brother Richard Reid is a very strong brother (may Allah be pleased with him).
Ahmed: Yeah, he is in Guantanamo, poor fellow.
Al-Zeidi: So am I really going to Amrique? When?
Ahmed: Brother, you need to be steadfast in the faith. I know you are getting confused by all these things, all these news and demonstrations in support of you around the world …
Al-Zeidi: Okay, okay brother, so when do I go home, to my wife errr…
Ahmed: Well, I do not know that. I do know they are filing charges against you in court probably today. That means within 72 hours you will be arraigned in court for the start of a lengthy trial that could send you in jail for many years…
Al-Zeidi: I am going to jail?
Ahmed: Well you may go to jail; but you know if this were Saddam’s time you ‘d be executed right away…
Al-Zeidi: Blacked out…
Ahmed: Brother, brother, brother al-Zeidi, subhana ,subhana…

TO BE CONTINUED.

certainly, nice capture of the episode. The brute saddam would swallowed him in a nanosecond....for sure a factual statement. But we don't replace brute regimes with cluster bombs or secretariat violence. Down with all brute regimes!

Thanks guys, I am sure you are all aware that the piece is fictional. This dialogue never happened in reality and the "Freedom" I have mentioned above as the source does not exist. Did anyone actually cross referenced Freedom Newspaper?
I just thought I would present a different perspective to the outragious incident that happened in Baghdad...
