First direct fly from Manchester in the season......Monarch fly from Gatwick. They are the only 2 flights I've used. Neither is cheap...but it is cheaper to book via an online internet agent rather than direct with the airline. Stupid isnt it? It is sometimes cheaper to buy a cheap package even if you dont use the accommodation for the whole trip. Tafbel in Senegambia is cheapish and Badala Park is one of the budget hotels in Kotu. Its very friendly. Look at Gambia experience web site for any last minute offers???? If anyone know a way of getting a really cheap flight to Gambia I would appreciate the info. |

Thanks Bev, I've been surfing all of them and the atreus one thru Gambia Experience does seem the cheapest. I'm not sure what money they charge for single accom. But would not be using it too much anyway. If I come across anything cheaper will let you know |

I have heard the astreus flight is rubbish...no in flight entertainment.....I suppose you get what you pay for! I like the monarch flight best...but then I have to get to Gatwick from Yorkshire and usually have expense of an overnight stay at airport. In March/April I go from Manchester with First direct. Be warned they are VERY strict on luggage weight. |

Just looked at cosmos.co.uk a flight and acc at palm beach Kotu in Nov for less than £500.
£500 seems to be around the cheapest i can find. For 2 weeks including breakfast and flights not too bad? |

in season you can get loads of flights... gambia experience fly from Gatwick, Manchester, Bristol and East Midlands. Also next season its looking like My Travel is also flying from the 4 above airports.
www.bargainsundeals.com do some good gambia deals as well as the main tour operators I think its a case of deciding when you want to go ..if you can avoid school holidays then ull get a cheaper price
out of season ud expect it to be cheaper but its actually more expensive!! as its just gambia experience.
sometimes it might be cheaper to get a flight only n book a room somewhere via internet as sometimes they charge the earth for a single supplement.
gambia experience also do some great last minute deals, allocation on arrival but it sometimes works out cheaper than flight only.

| I have also been looking foe cheap travel to Gambia in june. I have decided to go late deal with Gambia experience, or just book with them, Some of the lower class hotels don't charge a single supplement during the off season when booked through Gambia exp. A weeks stay is averaging about £450. Flights will only be from Gatwick during the off season. And it is stupid that it is more expensive during off season but thats what we call supplt and demand!! |

Thanks for all advice. Does appear it may work out cheaper to do the full package but not use the accomodation as I'm staying with the family for the 2 weeks. It will be after the 20th June so out of season.

Have you stayed with the family before? Which town or village do they live in? I have not been brave enough yet to stay in the village over night...perhaps next time? I am not of 'back packing ' age......I like my luxuries.......or basics.......dependng on your perspective. ie I need a loo, a shower and electricity so I can read at night....... Next time I go alone,in March 2007 I am going to stay in Kolior....... Any advice? |

| Thomas Cook seem cheap from Manchester. I flew with them in December and it cost only 270 pounds for flight and half board at the Senegambia! They also do flight only, which is sometimes cheap. The website is www.flythomascook.com. I agree with GambiaBev that the astreaus flight isn't good, but they may now have inflight entertainment. Im off back to the Gambia on the 28th of this month, but could only fly from Gatwick with Gambia Experience, which is very expensive!! |

Flight entertainment? Is that really a neccesity? I think the thrilling feeling of soon reaching Africa is entertaining enough... Otherwise, why not have drink or two and mingle with the other passengers? |

Hi there, if you flying from the UK, try icelolly.com or charterflights.co.uk, they have cheap flights in season. I flew for £150.00 with flythomascook last year. I am going for roots festival and staying for three weeks in total. If you can fly from Netherlands try travelpoort they seem cheap but I do not know the quality of the flight. Happy holidays to all.
