The entertainment is not a necessity..but when comparing prices it is something to keep in mind.....
I am SO impatient to reach Africa that 6 hours seems like a week. Anything that distracts me is ok...... otherwise I am just thinking about getting there!!!! |

No Babylon inflight entertainment isn't a neccesity, but it can sometimes help time go fast. But i agree mingling with other pasengers is much more fun. I have met some of the most amazing people on flights to and from the Gambia, both Gambian and British. They have told me many a fascinating story, made me laugh and one woman even held my hand and reassured me through some violent turbulence. If its entertainment that you want, then people are much more fun than tv!! |

Lol, I only have one demand when I travel to Africa: not to fly with any Russian airline Anything is better than the horrortrip I made with Aeroflot from Moscow to Dakar once when I was 19. It took about 24 hours or so and was the bumpiest ride ever, I feared for my life... So I guess to me anything else is luxury if I compare to that horrible experience. |

Be careful of assuming availability in rainy season. The planes always seem full to burtsing then and there are long queues at Banjul on standby.
And, so Astreus are that bad are they? I'm going out for a week on 23 May (my mate's opening his bar in Brufut and theortically having some reggae superstars for the opening night do on the Friday. It theoretically should be an excellent night) and on the way back thy've put me on the astreus. I looked it up on the web and it seemed OK. More leg room, wider seats. That can't be bad. In fact, I was even thinking of upgrading just for a treat. Anyone done that? If so, is it worth it? |

formby, congrats on the bar, what is it called. it might be cheaper to get a package holiday check out gambia experience (hate to promote them, but they coul ddo you a good special offer, especially if you wait two weeks before you fly.
last time i did this w eek bed and breakfast was £10.00 cheaper than a flight alone( go figure)

Well I think it matters from which city you fly in the UK. Flights from Amsterdam leave in the afternoon and come back in the early morning, this means that you can have good connections from and to the UK to Amsterdam airport. if you book your flight with Travelpoort you will save a lot of money, especially if you choose one of their very special offers. and they give the lowest price garantee from Dutch flights! for example flight only on 8 may costs 210 pounds all included! on 2 october you can have a flight and one week stay in Badala hotel for 245 pounds all included! you can find their website in Englisch at http://www.travelpoort.nl They sell flights from holland and Belgium, you can book most of the Gambian hotels, they rent cars and have a lot of special excursions and programmes and they rent some nice holiday villas and they have their own office in Gambia. regards roger |

all the travel news, sound so good.
so how many of us are planning to go in june. Gambia expereince is rediculously expensive and i do agree from research that a package hol is the best way to go but the only prob with that is that it's usualy for 2 people flying out.
i'm thinking of getting a one way flight to amsterdam and then a cheapy from travel port.
anyone done this b4?? |
