a friend passes
a life ebbs
a human's contribution expires
a love for a friend is compromised
a norm becomes a past
a person and his life is destroyed
a man leaves behind a vacuum
a family loses his father
a man loses his soulmate
a soul evapourates
a fellow becomes an urn
a life is extinguished.
death is life
life is death
we understand little
we remember something
we forget so much
my friend is dead
my friend is gone
my life is emptier
my life is duller
my life is missing something
death is always there
death is around us
death is unavoidable
death is our future
death is our life.

i salute my friend who is (maybe) in a better place.

and, today, his girlfiend died , a month after he did.
he 53
she 46
life is precious.
love your time.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and sorrow. For some, life goes on, for some not.

Take comfort, your friend and his girlfriend are without doubt in a better place,in your mind their memories will live and often replay the happy times you enjoyed together.

Loss of a friend is always hard , there is a such a huge emptiness and silence, a void that is very hard to fill, your's Lurker came twice and so i can imagine the immensity of your loss and how heavy it weighs on your conscience . I join all the posters who express their condolences to you on your sad double loss , I want to add that you can take solace from the fact that you are left behind with a chance to pray for the dear departed , may your prayers be answered as you wish and may you too have the fortitude of bearing the pain and loss . Surely you are not alone at this moment of sadness and pray that they are in a better place than we are now amen

thanks for all your concerns and kind words. i know they are at peace now. the most awful thing is when people die without warning. if you are sick, people can laugh and cry, console and comfort.they can used to the idea - somewhat- then you pass and it is awful, but the surprise aspect has gone and the preparation for the event was a little bit of solace in the grief that abounds.
this way, no-one had preparation nor suspicion and their kids , imparticular, are broken.
worst of all, she died in the flat of the man in whose house he had died.
she was there to reminisce about him and died on the same sofa a month later.
you could not make it up!

Bro lurks,

a touching one indeed, fitting as tribute to many gone love mates.

But you succeeded with this poem to reflect truly on death, the inevitable.

ps.accept my sympathy.

D.
