Good point Toubab, you know you are getting smarter everyday. The issue here is not Legal aid but human dignity. No person should be subjected to months and years of detention regardless the conditions of detention. That is why the Irish legal system is one of thebest in Europe because it permits a maximum 8 weeks detention nothing more. Regarding detainee who cannot provide papers of their countries of origin, i guess you arrest somebody backed by intelligence from investigations about such persons before arresting and detaining them. Therefore indefinite detention lacks merit.
Don't listen to that Legal fool cum sellout because it is very clear from his utterings that he does not know his legal rights much more the rights of individuals in the wider society. Every person legally resident in the UK has the right to access Legal aid as stipulated in the European Convention(and that include visa holders) "with exceptions including libel, most personal injury cases (which are now dealt with under Conditional Fee Agreements, a species of contingency fee) and cases associated with the running of a business." Visa holder have rights to some public services like healthcare, Legal aid among others. In short any Legal resident of the UK who lacks sufficient funding to ensure effective access to justice is entitled to legal aid. Only a fool leans upon his own misunderstanding(Bob Marley).
Coming back to the issue at hand, the UK and many European nations have violated many EU and UN Convention with regards to "protection in the event of removal, expulsion and extradition" of immigrants. Collective expulsion for example is prohibited in both the EU and UN Conventions yet still plane loads of immigrant herded like sardines are expulsed to third world nations every month by European nations. Europe had become poisoned with fear mongering from opportunist politicians who would say or do anything to get elected not out of love for their Citizens. Far right politicains are cropping from every corner brainwashing citizens to hate migrants irrespective of their value and contributions to society. But like Bob Marley said "no matter what stages.... or rages they put us through, we will never blue".
Dig this song man!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Stb2QkUzMY4&feature=related Here is the lyrics: http://www.elyrics.net/read/b/bob-marley-lyrics/forever-loving-jah-lyrics.html |

Well, I hope so. But the places you mentioned are nowhere near any of the country's exit points.
Those crocodiles who frequent the Cape point and Jeswang Flood Plains areas are not wild ones. They come from the Kachikala scared Crocodile pool in Bakau. They are sacred crocodiles belonging to the Bojang Family, one of the founding families of Bakau. When I was a teenager and living in one of the suburbs of Bakau, we use to go to this pool and sometimes even touch the crocodiles.
Yes, sometimes they wonder off to far distances like the places you mentioned above and that is when they could become a potential public saftey hazard as they could be violent in an unfarmiliar environment but only when they feel threatened or antagonised. That is why the advice is always that; when you see one outside the vicinity of Kachikala, do not touch. Report it to the pool Wardens and they would do the rescue. I have watched them do that on countless occasions, and with little risk to themselves or the general public.
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts, Princess. I appreciate your concerns and knowledge about the Gambia, and please don't mind the ramblers. You just keep making sense, as usual, and leave them to their thing, alright!
Thanks |
