The abattoir master Vested with rights To slaughter the bulls Who crowd the sheds Waiting for their masters command They die submissive Suffering in silence Knowing they have no choice In this process Once they enter the catchment area Their lives belong to him Who must be obeyed Do not call them fools They are bulls Waiting to be slaughtered

The poem's read ink statled me.
I have seen over time all the bulls been slaughtered.
Don't you forget, it has been gooing on ...the Tumbul Tambas, the Musa jammehs, the Dabas, et cetera...with that long list....for whatever happened to them ., the latest now is Manlafi Sanyang. Sad indeed, sad!
May God give them rights to be judged in the heeafter -on a true justice scale, which they've been denied in this world.

| those folks were willing pertakers in the allege crimes. so the sadness should be directed at the victims. guilty by association is my verdit. whatever one does shall live after him. |

Uncle Suntou,
For full disclosure, I didn't mention their names (Tumbul and Musa) or expressed sympathy because they are from the same home town with me. The point I raised was the injustice part of it. Whatever crime one commits, one still deserve justice. If they were tortured or poisoned to death, that in itself is not right, the same for any torture or killing they might as meted to others as widely reported.
Further, I agree with you that Association to the killing machinery is wrong, and being part of it even constitutes more evil.
In conclusion, I hope justice prevail for all humanity if not this world then the hereafter, where Mighty God presides over true judgment. The center focus of the poem is injustices meted out by the killer machinery. The author resembled the situation to a butcher who owns an abbatoir and the bulls (excuse its usage on humanity.) At will, the butcher picks one bull after the other for slaughter. I am truly saddened by the situation because I wish for true justice for all, including the very butcher himself whenever his time is up.
See when Sadam was killed, a lot of information was burried that Iraqis could have used to truly establish examplary justice. If the Musas and the Tumbulis were alive, it could be that some information would have leaked by now, especially regarding the Govt's involvement in the Ghanian killings, Daba & Co, Chief E. Manneh, Koro ceesay, Deyda, et cetera....This is truly so...
thanks for your chip-ins always.
Ditto: Bro Kaniibaa, I am also sensitive to the red ink, indicative of oozing blood.

I share your frustration as well regarding the madness...for technicality, historians would like to say "alleged" until a court preside over them, but known to be true as seemingly exposed by many who witnessed it. If that is to go by, the guilty is frowning on their ugly faces.
But at once, I cross-checked the short piece, and I humbly have to withdraw the word 'alleged' from my piece. Thanks for pointing to the flaws.

dalton, i fully comprehend the reasoning behind your mentioning of their names. and also, you didn't come across as a writer who defend criminal eliments. i am not calling for the death of even the most hearthless of Yahya's torturers. but again, we sympatise untill a close family member is touched. i was strongly against the public beating of thiefs untill one fine Ramadan, i was living alone at the time. i went shoping for vegetables at the serre kunda market. a theif stole a guy's wallet and throw at at my legs. when the owner sprang to attack him, he point at me, and then before i know, a crowd advance at me, yelling and shouting. fortunately, one man rescued me and said, the it was the other guys who throw the wallet at me. so yes, i sympatise with every single human soul who dies by the hands of others. but also we need to remember that, the slaugters knew fully what they are doing. they willing do it, so if they taste their own medicine, tough. the victims, i mean all innocent ones deserves our silent remembarance in our prayers. it could be any of us next time unless we avoid the Gambia which is an impossibility. |
