Dear Sir > Thank you for your feedback sent to my colleague, Heidi, regarding the prices of our holidays. > I was disappointed to learn that you felt that our costs were expensive. As with any Tour Operator, prices do fluctuate according to the time of season our passengers wish to travel and also how far in advance the ticket is booked. We regularly have special offers or late deals, which our Sales Department would be more than happy to discuss with you, should this be of interest. We do not use low-cost airlines to fly to The Gambia, which is another factor in our higher prices, along with the fact that we are indeed a specialist Tour Operator. We do try to remain competitive on service and have many repeat customers who take advantage of our position. > You will, no doubt, be aware of the increasing price of fuel and the cost of living, which we must also take into consideration when setting our prices. Our Fair Trading Charter explains that amendments to a booking are at a fee of £150.00 and I am sorry if you find this excessive. We do of course take the price of the holiday into consideration as well as the number of days prior to travel, as these will have a bearing on the amendment fee. Some companies have a 'non-negotiable' policy and others do not charge, but we do feel the fees we have set are reasonable. > I very much hope that I have been able to answer your queries and I would like to thank you for taking the time to write to us with your comments, which will be passed to our Commercial Department for their consideration. > Yours sincerely > Debbie Challen > Customer Relations Executive > Telephone: 01489 866 951 MY RESPONCE
Dear Debbie Thank you for you reply My comments are as follows Paragraph 1 What you stated is no different to other airlines that now and again offer special deals or late offers. Budget Airlines don't do long haul. So we can ignore that paragraph. Paragraph 2 All airlines are having the same problem regarding the cost of fuel so no difference there. I see this as an excuse not a reason as traditionally your companies prices have all ways been high. Which really is summed up by the fact you charge an amendment fee of £150 which is absolutely scandalous. Your reputation goes before you. You just have to read the various Gambian or Travel Forums Whilst you will say despite all of this everything is rosy. I like many others who I know and have been going for many years will not be going back. As a matter of interest I'm booked to go to Thailand for three months in November. The flight cost £473 return accommodation in a luxury condo is £40 per week with maid service. Finlay. Its not words its money that talks Good luck

like i say take it to the press, the GE will listen, to amend a piece of paper is a small charge, so why a large fee that is the question. if the fuel goes up then they can justifiy increase the price high, but to change a name no, they are no being lenient. |
