Like the Fulani say: MBURU FOFF KO FORINGE (All breads are made of flour). This is why Mugabe does what he does best.
The African Union is ineffective because every one of them has his fingers soiled in the palm oil.
This reminds me of a Nigerian series on British television in the mid 1990s titled "President For Life" based on the story of an African dictator who was removed and sought asylum in the UK. His bodyguard, Solomon, wrote on hs resume, that he could drive an armored tanked through a crowd of unarmed protesting school children with his eyes closed.
Wade was my star in the beginning, but not for now. I think Abdou Joof was right. He used to tease him that a head that could not bear the load of a strain of hair could not bear the resposibility of leading a nation. It was sacarstic then, but with hindsight....

You stiring up some memories here. I remember Wade firing back in an equally sarcastic humour. "Eh li kekha la, nen doufi bonde"(hey this is a rock no egg bounces off it). Classic!!! Wade had indeed lived up to his billing. Every egg that had landed on his imperial bounce had so far crashed. None had yet bounced!!! quote: Originally posted by kondorong

There is nothing "undemocratic" about what Wade and his cronies did. Folks, this is exactly what happens when humans have the power to "make and change laws." They took a vote and the majority of the MPs to decided to change the law. |

So its ok for MPs to vote in a constitution that gives Wade authority to change the term from 7 years to 50 years?
So your contention is that once its approved by majority of MPs no matter what, it should be ok to not complain about it.
You see in those societies, seperation of powers is very much respected, but not in our societies where there is hardly anythng seperate.
Rememeber the change in term from 7 years to 5 was subjected to a referendum. Not in this case. Why did he not go for a referendum again? Dont tell me because of cost. Democracy is not a cheap form of government.
MPs are not supposed to be rubber stamps for the executive. |

I am merely trying to point out the inherent flaws and deficiencies in the system. Wade can go to court and get a ruling that what he is doing is constitutional. We are all seeing what is wrong with democracy...a system they are trying so hard to jam in our throats. |
