History both traditional and written is an essential part of who we are as a people. With all the junk in the internet it is sometimes important to capture some incredible history that can go a long way to educate generations to come.

I will work on a piece about a place of long time admiration and birth -inshallahu. Owing to the difficulty in collection of materials, you might have to excuse delaying it. I share your dream for a library where these historic events can be referenced.

dbaldeh, this is a wonderful posting. Thanks for that. A great posting of the recent history of serekunda and Serr Jobe. What the posting did not tell you was that, Serr Jobe was a relative of Lingeer Anta Jobe [the queen mother of wallo - who was killed at the battle of Talata Nder]. He was of the bloodline decent of Sakewar Fatma Jobe and Mam Sohna Mbaye [Great grand parents of Lat Jor Jobe - the king of kajoor who died heroicly at the battle of Dekhule in 1886] - the trace their decent to Guet Jobe [whom the village of Guet was named after in the late 14th century]. Many of this family have held the title Buur Guet for centuries.
