english "food", dirty , stony beaches, national front, trade unions, doner kebabs, themed pubs, knotted handkerchieves on heads, greasy chips, tattoos, football hooligans, bus bombers, shoe bombers, cottaging politicians on clapham common, speed humps, green taxes, "gordon brown" taxes, tottenham losing (again), no public toilets, no taxis when you need one, rubbish british telecom, no customer service, automated telephone directionality, the voice of the woman on virgin's main 0845 number, banishment of the sack raceand conkers for health and safety reasons, no more christmas in case it offends ethnic minorities, retrospective car taxes, broken paving stones , .....
and they still keep flooding in.
hey , gambians and all wannabe immigrants, if this is what you aspire to and dream of from your homes elsewhere, how bad must your countries be?
aaah, the irony......

You missed one Lurker. The law abideing citizen who has worked hard all his life and paid his taxes and been a credit to society is forced to sell his home to pay for a place in an old peoples home. Where he will be neglected and abused and die |

keep 'em coming. capital gains tax on your property when u die, having already paid tax all your life on it and on your earnings with which you paid for it.. this is the "great" in "£great britain". welocme allcomers, to broken britain. welcome you dick whittingtons who think the streets are paved with gold. in fact they are becoming paved with blood. welcome all you who think that life with no money , a beach , a plate of food and a regular bed , is such a crap life. those who think that education here is the solution to all problems.... to those who want to clean toilets at minimum wage, or work 3 jobs til they drop.
and yet.....for all of the above, it is still a free country where we can speak and vote and ask questions and get on with trying to better ourselves, despite the efforts of this putrefying govt. to destroy us bit by bit. this is the british way of life that others still seem to want. not so bad, really.lol
aaaah, satire.....so very british.

Couldn't agree more, Lurker, but as long as Hollywood keeps serving up the continued myth (films like Notting Hill, the Holiday, Four Weddings, etc)and hip hop videos continue to promote the bling/flashy cars/furs/etc lifestyle of the west, then unfortunately those in other countries watching such nonsense will still be blinkered! I think films such as Kidulthood (and now Adulthood) should be staple viewing for older teenagers who aspire to live in this unreal world clouded by innocence so they'd at least have a fighting chance of getting by if/when they come to our shores! Maybe this dose of reality would be enough for them to choose to stay where they are? |

It was before my time too and I a) don't live in England and b) don't have a BBC English accent and before you ask, no, I wouldn't recommend Braveheart either (you can shoot me now but I've never been tempted to watch that film!!). You wouldn't want to come to any cinema I was running, T1020, my tastes in film are very non-middle of the road |

Yeah so terrible why would anyone want to come here.... don't make me laugh,
an education system that educates our children with qualified teachers; (id never heard the term unqualified teachers till I started working in western Africa) tho this nonsense has now spread to parts of south America. What disturbs me more is; on discussion with educated people in the position of power ,despite their agreement stand back and say nothing as it makes their life easier!
A welfare state that ensures that people that slip though society's net are caught and provided for how terrible is that?????????????
A health service that we all p*ss and moan about till we need treatment in an emergency and are asked our names, before your method of payment. A tax system that we do pay high taxes compared to some but not as much as our friends in some parts of Europe.
Im a child of an immigrant, who arrived in Great Britain in the 50s that was welcomed with the signs of No Dogs NO Irish and NO Blacks!! We may have been lucky we were raised by resilient parents, who in turn raised resilient kids who never looked for handouts or a hand up. We didn't look to blame but looked for a solution and have all succeeded on our own merits not bad for 9 kids . Luckily we were not raised to think that cleaning for someone else was beneath us whether a stately home or a toilet
Im fortunate to have lived and worked in some of the worlds affluent neighborhoods, along with some of the poorest and made the decision to raise My children in this country where we have freedom of choice freedom of speech.
As for the teen pregnancy etc Yes its not a rate to be proud of but, the interventions and support put in place are. To read of a child abandoned by the mother is rare in Britain can the same be said for else where? Ive experience some horiffic sights babies left in the bush, washed up on beaches please lets not be naive to think that teen sex is just the cancer of the western world.
Yes I live in a Nation that has a Prime Minster that was not installed by the electorate (remind you of anywhere I can name but a few) but I have the freedom to express my disdain without fear or retribution. Along with news agencies.
Oh what a terrible place I live in.
As for the incessant bleating from nationals about not being able to call Christmas, Christmas or fly the Georges cross get a grip!!! Claim back what is yours instead of letting BMP thugs take what's yours and yes I do fly a Georges cross from a flag pole in my garden. I celebrate St Georges day and my children go to school with a red rose in their lapel on 23rd of April. Im British by birth but English by the grace of god! |
