Flap flap!

Flap flap!
Flap in one
Like the moving swarms of bees
Looking for their new habitats
To hive and honey.

Flap flap!
Flap in one
Like the birds in chorus
With noisy chorus flaps
Crying for freedom and justice.

Flap flap!
Flap in one
To fight every injustice
Inequality
And oppression.

Flap flap!
Flap non-stop
Flap with consistency and sincerity
Flap high and flap low
Flap vigorously till the journey ends.

Let me guess. This poem is a request to fellow Gambians to come together and start working busy, busy as bees with united efforts and not rest until the aim is reached - justice and freedom for everyone

Bro Kiwi,

Thanks! You are absolutely right. Also, what inspired me to write the poem is that Rene wrote the poem below, so mine was a direct respond to him. Basically, mine is a tribute as well to everyone who is part of it. It is also way of emphasis for the need for unity in ours -the struggle.

Without a high jump, Rene's poem is a tribute to our activist(s) of time. Under the current atmosphere, it is really frustrating. Like it is normally said, “It takes more than one to dance to tango.” Admittedly, ours is a wounded struggle. That said, it will cost us more to take to silence. In the poem, he (Rene) truly mourned the departure of a giant struggler(S), not as in death but silence of activism.

I hope those that value and are honored with Rene's poem will instead consider flapping their wings with the flying birds or swarming bees despite the many frustrations that come with it, alongside the difficult time as he so eloquently puts it in the last stanzas, thus:

quote:
"Where can we go to cry

where can we go to dance
where can we go to sing
Where can we go to laugh?

Our arena is inundated with killer bees
our drums are ripped apart
our laughter is choked

Do we have any more songs to sing?"

quote:

By Rene B (Courtesy of GP)

I will not be angst
if your voice remain silent
not because
you do not want to speak anymore
there is nothing more to speak evermore.

I remember you
the seed that sprout from the dry earth
the hope that was planted
with discipline and conviction
you carry the weight of our conscience
an indelible mark
imprinted in our hearts and in our minds
as we trace our footprints in the sands of time.

I will not be angst
if your voice remain silent
your dignity has not been compromised.

I will not be angst
if your voice remain silent
your humanity has not been debased.

You cannot dance alone
to the music of that misery
you stand alone in that oasis of indifference.

*

I will not be angst
if we cannot sing
our songs of rebirth
I will not be angst
if we cannot raise
our voices of defiance

You cannot dance alone
to the music of that misery
you stand alone in that oasis of indifference.

*

Where can we go to cry
where can we go to dance
where can we go to sing
Where can we go to laugh?

Our arena is inundated with killer bees
our drums are ripped apart
our laughter is choked

Do we have any more songs to sing?

Rene
