Bro Shaka,
Kindly transfer this thread to the humor forum; will you? Dida Halake must not be sitting on your nerves; is he/
I believe some one might have uttered it out of jokes/anger, and someone else on the opposite side took it serious/real...there, its ugly face surfaced as news. Did a scorpion ever sting you? If you are stung by a scorpion, you will be dizzling and making mere utterance sometimes. It is very painful. I was stung by it once. If for any joke, it is neither the fault of the scorpion nor the victim.
have a good one. Dalton

quote: GAMBIA SCORPIONS IN HIGH GEAR ...................By Solo, Banjul correspondent..................June 16th, 2008 Gambia’s National team, the Scorpions has not only humbled the Desert Warriors of Algeria 1-nil at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Saturday 11th June 2008 ascending them to first place of Group-six but sent a signal to Senegal and Liberia that they have now turned a new leaf.
The scorpions drew with Liberia 1-1, drew with Senegal 0-O but beat Algeria to take the first place pass Senegal in the group, making the Gambian fans thrilled once again. The win against Algeria has boosted the morale of both players and fans alike and placed the team in a comfortable position to fight on to qualify to either the World or Africa Cup of Nations in Angola in 2010.
The fact that the scorpions failed to sting the wounded Teranga Lions at home who were minus one due to a red card, made many fans to lose hope, but they did stung the Algerians and played them in such a way that all skeptics are now convinced that they are a team to be reckoned with.
The scorpions are going to play Algeria on Friday 20th June in Blida, Algeria. The hypothesis is that if Gambia manages a draw in Algeria and defeat Liberia on home ground, then the possibility of qualifying straight away is there.
The scorpions’ morale was boosted by the inclusion of Ousman Jallow of Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates, goal keeper Bajaha of Sweden and Pa Modou jagne of FC WILL IN Switzerland, replacing Pa Saikou Kujabi who was under suspension for two yellow cards at Liberia and the game with Senegal in Gambia. It will be difficult to say that the team’s resurgence is due to the entry of Ousman Jallow but his participation certainly showed the lay man that the team has been injected with new blood. His insistence to penetrate the opponent’s defense threatened the Algerians that they had to stop him by all means and that was what earned him the penalty. It is this penalty kick which was effectively converted by Mustapha Jarju alias Tubabo into an only and winning goal of these seemingly small but poisonous scorpions.
So as it stands, the scorpions should maintain their comfortable position by either defeating the Desert warriors in their own backyard or keep them at bay through a draw and use the supportive home crowd advantage to mercilessly sting the Liberian lone stars in Banjul.
This and this alone would maintain them in their lead to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nation in Angola in 2010 and pave their way to possibly qualify to the World Cup in South Africa 2010 without any controversy. Can they? They said they can. Nothing is impossible.
In another development Senegal drew 2-2 with Liberia in Monrovia on Sunday,15th June putting them in slight lead ahead of Gambia in Group six by a goal difference. Senegal scored three goals and concedes two while Gambia scored two goals and concedes one.

You are right Dalton i have been stung in the arse by a scorpion and so did the Algerian players who made the threat(if they ever did) but i enjoyed my pains though. Unlike those bloody Narrs, the scorpions just made my day. I know the BBC likes to sensationalise such sensitive issues and i did not for a minute believe the threat was real. Anyway i feel sorry for Dida Halake as much as i think he was a fool. Another victim of Jammehcracy i guess. Hope he learnt a lesson.

Guys,
A threat is a threat. Especially wen it comes from someone whose background has been and is still a terrorist hot-bed. The BBC this time round is not guilty as this was first reported by our own Peter Gomez in his paper. http://gambiasports.gm/enews/Football/248.html

Bro Madis,
You are also right.
There is a tree in Pular called "Chaikee," meaning "denial." It normally have many sharp ends. It gets green during dry seasons and at times of draught. During rainy season, it losses its greenery. One of my controversial grandfathers resmbled them with that tree.
One thing that is certain, If this 'dean/islam' was brought through a black prophet, a lot among them would have been on the opposite side. It is obvious, as believing people, we believe in God and His messenger Muhammad -PBUH. It is certain that they are not Islam, and Islam is not them or theirs. It is God's.
Let them spare us with their bombs, whether true or false. In short, it is big-time 'terror.'
2bab, this is sports -that's true. Involved also is a scorpion that stung some Algerian soccer stars. See, a scorpion's sting is very painful. Once that happened, those affected decided to reciprocate by throwing bombs.
AFRICAN STORY:
There was this man that was at the farm weeding. When he was going home, he lifted his traditional hat, which he had by a tree with damp moisture (favorite condition for sir/madam scorpis). Madam scorpi has preceeded the old man in the hat. Once he puts on his hat, madam scorpis did the job twice- "sting! Sting!" The old man before fainting, told those that came to his rescue that a devil has axed him on his head twice......haaaahaaaaaaaa! Since then, you cannot mention a scorpi around the man. This is just a joke!

Dalton1 You said "2bab, this is sports -that's true. Involved also is a scorpion that stung some Algerian soccer stars. See, a scorpion's sting is very painful. Once that happened, those affected decided to reciprocate by throwing bombs."
I can now see how this story developed dispite Algeria having been embroiled in problems for many years, I really cannot imagine any reasonable person contemplating taking the action that has been reported in some papers, lets hope its just like politics full of hot air and nothing happens in the end.

Bro Madis,
You sure normally make a good guest -many a times. Though, Kons. is your favorite jovial pet, so am I, but unfortunately for you and fortunately for him, this was one of my Uncles- I mean a Fulani Baldeh (your brothers!)
According to the other naration, the Sarahulle man who was stung by the scorpis, went home to get his traditional gun. I believe they call it "nokku ukku" in pular. when asked, he replied thus "I will kill this scorpion today!"
haha haha!!! |

Bro Kaniibaa,
Heh! You be quiet now, will you? hahaha!
The Jola man, Jarjou last name (name withheld) after he was stung by a scorpion, called onto the eldest son, telling him about his 'will'. The old man fare-welled his family, telling them "Innjeh pana loh!!" Further, he instructed them how to share all his wealth.
They normally say the "black" one is more poisonous. I believe this one took on your brother...haaaa!
I see you laughing now...

Dalton since you are trying us(ur uncles) i will let the big cat out of the bag. This yetteh Jallow, has just prayed Ishaa and was abt to retire to bed wen he felt the urge to visit the toilet. As you know traditional toilets are metres away from the living quarters. Yetteh Jallow took the kettle outside meant for that purpose, having left the barbooze(slippers) outside for the nite, the mighty scorp has already taken over for the nite. He confidently slid his left foot first which is against protocol, but wen one is under pressure to hell wit protocol, then he slid his right. The speed with which he withdrew the foot would have broken any guiness record. He did not only witdraw his foot but sent the scorp and shoe flying over to the fore-court of the compound. He cried for help and his wife was the first ot arrive asked what happened Yetteh jalow said he was bitten by a snake. The search for the snake began after a fruitless search , wen asked whether he was sure that it was a snake, Mr. jallow swore to all divinity that it was a big snake. Later another search was launch for the shoe . The search lasted the whole nite becos no one expected the shoe to be flung that high like a mortar shell. |

Bro Kay & Madis,
Nice one! You all sent me parking for the day. Nonetheless, you made my day.
Jokes aside, brothers and sisters, the scorpion's sting is very dangerous. Not long ago, I followed on CNN about a kid who was stung by a scorpion. The kid ended up getting hospitalized any ways, but also what is weird in it, the kid was at a grocery store -in the farm produce section with the water melons. According to CNN, the melon was from Mexico, so the scorpion was transported with it.
In the same way, The Algerian stars must have had a heck of trouble with this little tail, so mighty in deeds, that came to define a small animal -scorpis.
Poor child this is! Isn't it?
May God give us the blessings of this friday and many more fridays to come -inshallahu! I thank God for my soul, for my family and that of my love ones.
There is this verse in the holy Quran that I remember as a kid, my uncle (from my father's side) used to recite, for protection against such omens... Dalton
