As the artical was written by a Gambian from Bajul I just thought it might be of interest to fellow Gambians. If it had not been reported in the Gambia.??
Breaking News:ANOTHER COUP IN GAMBIA!!!! ANOTHER COUP IN GAMBIA!!!! ……..MAJOR GANO AND CAPTAIN JATTA MOVED TO THE NIA By Brian Saine, Banjul Major Lamin Gano and Captain Bayusupha Jatta have been moved to the NIA Head Quarters for further questioning, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The detained army officers are being held on allegations of undermining national security. They were briefly held at the Mile Two Central Prisons, but later moved to the NIA for further interrogations. The men were accused of plotting to overthrow the democratically elected Government of President Jammeh.
Sources close to the Army Command said both Major Gano and Captain Jatta have denied the allegations. “ The President is just paranoid. The rule coup is yet to take place. When we are ready, nothing can stop us. On that day, he will cry like a child. We will slaughter him like a chicken. This nonsense President will soon disappear.” Said the army official.
The army chief said almost every member of the armed forces is displeased with the current state of affairs. “ If he can kill our comrades, nothing will prevent him from coming after us. As I am speaking to you, he is planning to frame our boss Masaneh Kinteh. We are ready to die for this country. No more false arrest and killings.” He fumed.
Families of the detained security chiefs were denied access to their loved ones. “ We went to the NIA, but they denied having knowledge about Major Gano and Captain Jatta’s whereabouts. One of the NIA agents from Brikama told us that the men were detained at the agency. The official said the accused persons were implicated in a coup plot, which according to the official was at an advance stage.” Said a family member.

Snuggels your title 'another coup in gambia' sent shock waves. be careful how you word your title. Unless I've missed something. I agree that it is an important piece which people may be interested in reading, but please be careful, we or at least most of us have family/friends in the Gambia.
That aside, I was so embarrased watching President Yaya on the tv trying to cure aids. Even worst, the health secretary [a qualified doctor] supporting this. I would like to know were the people he apparently cured are, and if they are still alive, I would like them to be medical examined by independent doctors to see whether the virus has gone. If the virus has gone, then I will take back every bad comment I have ever made about Yaya on this issue. Personally, I do believe in herbalism [traditional medicine]as a compliment to medical, this is how the ancient used to cure certain diseases - [ie. herbalism] they had great knowledge of the plants and combinations of plants and amounts in order to cure the disease. Hiv/Aids on the other is a different matter, because the virus multiplies. Even medical science hasn't a cure. Yaya has no powers, traditional or otherwise. He is a fake and what makes him more dangerous is that he sincerely believes he has powers. |

Tamsier, I do not agree that he has no powers , he does have you know. The family has a history of healing people who suffered fractures and dislocations, so there you go, he has powers certainly man. As for AIDS/SIDA etc UHM I do do know about that. |

Greetings Everyone,
Another attempted coup in the Gambia is this some type of Joke? In fact the Freedom Newspaper is just that one BIGGGG Joke. The Editor is showing signs of frustration with his fabricated BS that it seems as if he is the only one who actually believes what he writes. Freedom newspaper is nothing but a paper peddling blatant lies misguiding it as the truth. Does its Editor really believe Gambians are so gullible to believe what he writes is the truth? Tribalism scaremongering what utter rubbish! Does it still surprise him that Gambia is still one of the most peaceful places to live in the world. There is no place for Tribalism in Gambia and its only the ramblings of a foolish fool to spout of such nonsense and try to make it sound like sense. It is not surprising that those who pretend to know about what is actually happening in Gambia (often live in self imposed exile) come out with such useless drivel. If this is Freedom newspaper,s strategy of gaining influence in Gambia. I doubt it very much if most Gambians are paying them any mind back home. They are too busy getting on with the job of making a living than wasting time on Doom Philosophers. Anyway just a thought does the Editor have a Day Job? Or wealthy sponsors? Or are Tax Payers subsidizing him to write this jibberish??? It even to foolish to be called incitement of State Terrorism or is it? Editor don't give up that Day Job and while you're at it the Divide and Rule card of Tribalism is worn out and full of holes its redundant. Ah no wonder! Now I get it. The Tribalism card is one of desperation the final straw, the final card,of a shoulda woulda, coulda variety outdated with no place to hide. Self imposed exiles have just learnt a good lesson that it just ain't greener on the otherside, and there ain't no rescuer coming to sort out their mundane existences in the West.
Peace

Kaanibaa!kaanibaa!kaanibaa!
I cannot believe you fallen into this man's trap. This man has no powers. Even if I take your point that his family had powers, that doesn't necessarily mean he has. Even I can repair a dislocation, painful it will be, but I can and I am sure that you can as well with training. Having watched the tv, I was so shocked when I saw a herd of people heading towards him to be cured. My jaw fell, please dont join the club. |

It is probably a good idea to post stories from "actual newspapers," instead of disgruntled "individuals" bent to spreading chaos, innuendo, lies, and rumour. I agree with Tamsier on the 'shock waves' such stories can send. |
