A very sad incident happened in Spain last Saturday when one Gambian was stabbed to death by another. They are both said to be from the same village; Badibou Salikene in the NBD. The deceased is said to owe the assailant money for years which resulted to the murder.
May his soul rest in peace.

| This is ghastly. For a few Euros some one lost their life just like that. Made worst by the fact that, another Gambian could perform such savagery on another Gambian, something he wouldn't dear contemplate in the Gambia but once in Europe he seems to have lost all sense of dignity. I am not saying it is drugs related but I would not be surprised. I cant imagine how the victims family are feeling. This is very sad and terrible. |

It happens in gambia too, one guy was thrown down from a stone stair like three times, (he kept coming up again and explaining himself)...until he stayed down with his head bleading and eyes rolling. I feldt so bad and didnt dare to do anything, I was upstairs in club and could hardly take myself down because my legs shaked so badly, I did think about the mans mother and family but the ones pushing him down just laughed and said the guy was a thief...it was all about drugs...and where the heavy drugs are, there is no dignity. I still see him down bleading and I still see that nobody helped him, people just went on like nothing happened, taht is sad! |

When drugs take a hold on a person or a community the decent morals soon disappear.
Personally I would like to think if I witnessed a wrong doing then I would call the police and make a statement at the very least.
I have stepped in to violent situations before, but that is not generally advised. |

| Bev, I was too schoked, didnīt believe such a thing could happen in Gambia, lotīs of people working in that bar and they saw what happened and they just continued working...I have stopped fight here between two young guys and called police on them since I couldnīt keep them apart...too late I noticed they both were on drugs...but gave my statement since one of policemen started behaving racistic towards the black guy and asked if he tried to robb the otherone..they both refused to talk to the police. Some of my co workers saw me in the situation and told me later that the white guy just got out from prison...he was sentenced when he almost killed someone...I will never ever take a risk again to have to go to court and testify against grazy drugheads. |

Woooooooooooooooo back there.........Momodou no where said that this was a drug related killing he just drew our attention to the death of a man who was involved over a dispute about money,as far as I am aware no one has any further information about this,Tamsier does say " I am not saying it is drugs related but I would not be surprised. I cant imagine how the victims family are feeling. This is very sad and terrible." I agree with that, and feel that other postings have gone off topic, not to say that they should be posted on Bantaba, but a new topic should have been started, thats my own personal feeling taking into account that there may be many people in Gambia who knew the dead man,and to brand him as being somehow involved with drugs without proof is not fair. When further information comes to light then I may revise my comments.

From remote sources, it is MONEY PALAVA. According deep throat sources, the victim held money in his account for the assailant. By efforts to claim his money, there was a scuffle leading to stabbing. The source further advanced the issue of illegal immigrant workers who could not open bank accounts or get jobs through their own names. Some of them resort to using other people's details and there the problem often springs as in this one at hand. |

Its sad indeed that this happened. The worst part is both have lost. The dead is gone but the living is certainly not out of the woods and the money in question unspent. It a tragedy.
Its hard finding work in Europe these days with the expansion of the union to estern countries bringing in cheaper labour and supply exceeding demand. Frustrations are bound to rise.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen. |
When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always. |

Kons, you have hit the nail on the head,Eastern Europe is closer people don't have to buy expensive visas to come and work they can just come, the EU dosn't want Africans to work for low wages anymore they just get Eastern Europens to work for low wages,Africa is being forgotten again! Hence "MONEY PALAVA."
