yesterday the article below was culled from the Daily Observer website by Kondorong and the subject of discussion was witchcraft, and i had contributed to it.
http://www.observer.gm/enews/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3996&Itemid=33&PHPSESSID=8e137783b0f4afed104eade9bb6b8dca
the thread on the Bantaba was called i think '' ...who killed Kebba Touray''. it has been deleted!!!
i am new here and perhaps i did not read the the rules propertly but is there censorship on the bantaba. are people allowed to delete posts??
if so this would defeat the whole point!
Momodou if you read this , kindly advise so that we are all at the same level.
thanks

Njuks, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will take up the issue with the members having moderator priviledges so that they are careful not to press the wrong button when they are logged on. There is no censorship of thoughts here.
I will check later if I can find the topic in the backup I made last night and shall re-post it and see why it was deleted.
reagrds, Momodou

Sorry guys
I deleted the post because a family memeber felt that they were grieving the loss and as such asked if we could "let him rest in Peace". May be i was over sympathetic and my apologies to everyone.
It is human that we sometimes put ourselves in someone's situation and may be i became victim to that. Infact the topic had moved on beyond Kebba and we were talking about witchcraft. Sorry. may be the Administrator will be able o bring the postings back and for me another lesson learnt. Two heads are better than one at least in many cases. |

Kondorong, thanks for the clarification. Your action is understandable with regards to the deceased and the request from the family. May his soul rest in peace.

Konds, that was an appropriate action. Thanks for that spirit. We are all Gambians and wish to respect each others wishes. We have to remind the family of the decease that we are murning with them. I personally truth your judgement.
njucks, thanks also for that observation. We all have to be alert so that whatever seems suspicious will be revealed immediately. Thanks bro. |

I wish what happens in the bantaba can be translated in the gambia. To have the courage to make an opinion just like Njuks did and to have the humility to accept others, but also to re-inforce the spirit of indepenece just as taalibeh advised above, all in an atmostphere of genuine desire for the truth and safeguard the rights to free speech.
I beleieve democracry is beginning to take root and hopefully in 20 years when the current polical landscape in the Gambia is cultivated by the likes i have seen on the bantaba, we will beome a beacon of hope to Africa and tolerance and good governance will be our guiding priciples.
I do not believe in censorship but i beleive we have some reponsibility especially where death is concerned, to give the grieving family privacy to deal with the loss. I have personally known kebba for over 14 years now and i believe he used to own a business called Banjul Technoprint around Allen street. I used to visit him there when his business was in its infancy.
He is a fine gentleman who refused where other memebers of parliament did, to intimidate family members of those in opposition but who work in government with dsmissals. Probabaly his constituency is among a few that never saw this kind of nasty politics in our history. i have spoken and met him during those trying times especially in 2001 when we met at a mechanics workshop in Brikama. I have known him personnally before he was in politics and my condolences to his family. |

I always say that I am very optismistic for a very bright future in The Gambia. What pleases me most is the current trend of determination by Gambia youths towards education. When the individual is educated he/she is free from mental colonisation and slavery.
When this brigade assumes the mantle of our country's leadership, I presume a brighter future will dawn in the Gambia. |

Offcourse, it's just a matter of time, I have no doubt in my mind that, by the grace of the Almighty God, The Gambia will shine like the sun on the faces of all mankind someday to come. With the talents coming up, The Gambia would definitely be a diamond in the future . |

Pkhumcity am afraid you appear to be one of the weakest link amonsgt the Gambian family. You should have reserved your opinion in this forum encouraging debates and general discussions as the name imply "Bantaba" or literally a local community seante or parliament, which is very lively to remind, inform or share our knowledge on all relevant issues whether current or past that happen at the motherland and worldwide. If you have nothing to contribute, share or learn through this Bantaba, don't show your lack of interest or somewhat ignorance with your suggestion stated above. Am sorry bro, we need sober brains. |

A A A A!!! kobo, you have really got a bantaba spirit. This is why I love this forum. It is a mirror where you can have a very real and complete picture.
I am unlike pkhumcity in the sense that I misse the diverse opinions expressed on bantaba whenever I am off.
Thanks bro for that timely and appropriate reminder.

No. It is good for him to criticise but in doing so he needed to give the rationale for not contributing to the Banataba. That is the way forward to bring about change. Come up with reasons to convince why we should do as he wishes. As at now, he is only making a statement which cannot stand scrutiny. he is definitely standing on quick sand ready to be swallowed. We need debate to geberate healthy solutions to our problems and anything short of that is a dictatorship. |

pkhumcity,
Prosperity is a force mostly driven by optimism; negativity doesn't payoff, it only brings you down. Try being positive you shall see the difference. Trust me, I tell you know lie!!! |
