this is serious, how many people have sent money for the week end and it will not reach them, what will happen, is Bayba UK and overseas insured. What happens, if I had sent money I would be hard pressed to re send the money no matter how small. what is section 42 The Central Bank of The Gambia announces for the information of the general public that acting under section 42 of the Financial Institutions Act (FIA) 2003 it has taken possession of Bayba Financial Services and Bayba Savings and Credit Company.

Bayba is a commercial company dealing in money, these industries are very susceptable to rumor and if this story was published on their website customers would loose confidence (just as you appear to have done)they are not very good at updating their websites either when they changed offices in the UK it was AGES before they put the right number on the website. The whole financial world is in turmoil at the moment. |

point taken but they still should acknowledge something, their website is not the best at any time, burying your head in the sand does not help. |

I think one of the reasons Bayba in the UK has not repsonded is that it a different company, with different owners.
Look at their website www.bayba.co.uk

That may well explain things but it still remains that they (the Gambian enterprise)are part of a group sharing the "Brand" surley a dent in one part must reflect a dent in the group?

Well Well, this is probably the reason then!(How long will the Point be with us?)
http://thepoint.gm/africa/gambia/article/bayba-financial-clerk-charged-with-economic-crime
Snippet: According to the particulars of the offence, between January 2007 and June 2008 in Brusubi, being an employee of Bayba Financial Company, the accused Alhagie Darboe caused the loss of nine hundred and twenty-nine thousand, six hundred and twelve dalasis (D929, 612) to Bayba Financial Company, whose funds are partly provided by the Government of The Gambia by intentionally withdrawing from inactive customer account thereby dishonestly acquiring the property of the said Company.
Note the words in the snippet above "Bayba Financial Company, whose funds are partly provided by the Government of The Gambia "

has anyone been affected by this, i use to use them but have found other ways. this is hard earned cash going to needy (or not) families in Gambia. I hope the sentence is long and hard. his family must be hiding in shame. |

Jambo,I use Bayba and have done for some time I suspect that when all this happened there were obviously problems that The Government did not want to be brought to light as confidence would have been shaken, however I continued to use them and have no problems it is true to say that Bayba have tightened up their security considerably to avoid the sin of money laundering.I have never had any problem at all and will continue to use them.Just because there was APPARANTLY one bad apple ( after all he hasn't been convicted)this is nothing unusual in the banking business as I am sure you know just look at what Mr Madoff has done a $50 MILLION swindle.
