Momodou,

Lot of thanks to you.
Great music. Juldeh deserves this personal score. In real life, Juldeh is a calm gentleman. He is respecting and respectful. He's got all the attributes of a burning talent.

Mawdo Momodou,

YERO MAMA PULLO

Juldeh Camara is a fiddle superstar who deserves all the prestigious awards, recognition and exposure far and while. BBC couldn’t have done any better.

The very music he is fiddling talks about Pulaghu (art of tarika) history -Yero Mama Pullo. It happens that the theme –Yero Mama Pullo is a renowned Fulani Warrior. Yero is normally the ‘fourth born son’ according to the Fulani nomenclature. Mama is the title for a grandfather. I believe Mama is a word found in many languages not only Pular. Pullo is one belonging to the Fulbe tribe.

According to the discourse, Yero Mama Pullo, heroic of his time doesn’t falter, retreat or surrender for the course of redemption. The artist Juldeh also mentions of Musa Molloh Baldeh of Fuladou, another Fulani warrior renowned worldwide. It ended by talking about the Islamic pioneer and explorer Sheik Omar Futti whom many have known for his Islamic struggle in the West African Sub region.

According to another discourse similar that I listened to in the past, it likened Yero Mama’s struggle by saying, thus: “The whole of Masinah seated in a ship while Yero Mama steers the propeller with his leg in the direction he wishes while holding his touch light to illuminate the path and guarding the community with his feared armor.” (Please excuse the direct quote!!)

Mawdo Kons & Madis,
Mawdo Momodou Got you guys on this one. Hahaha!!! Be careful of overwhelming excitement over the 4-minutes recording. Bro Karamba, thank you also. It looks like we can use Lurkers quote here in the positive that: “The Chickens are coming home to roost.” Bro Karamba, are you that versed in this fiddle also? I am left wallowing in surprise. To make you guys more jealous that’s my namesake. It was the same trap that Sophia Ba put her self in this forum, upon realization, I pinned her & Kons for belonging to the Fulbe. Lets go! Day will break here one day. It is interesting to see how much others know about other cultures. Some of it cannot be lessons in school -I can bet my dinner tonight and I won't loose. This one is special for all of us.

Glossary:

*Fulbe/Fulani -a tribe found in West Africa
*Pulaghu -the art of being a Pullo, normally associated with nobility status and heroism.
*Mama -a grandfather
*Masinah -a place origin for many Fula worriors like Yero Mama Pullo, Omar Samba Dondeh, et cetera...
*Musa Molloh Baldeh -a fula warrior
*Sheik Omar Futti (May Allah be pleased with his soul) -an Islamic propagator/jihadish.

Regards,
Dalton

Thanks for the rejoinder and the brief history of Yerro Mama.

I could not resist sharing the following video with you. It’s Juldeh Camara on Riti with Tiramakang Ensemble in Copenhagen during the Images of The World Festival in 2000.
