This study is by an Isreali scholar, very controversial and potentially blasphemous (atleast to some poeple). Here are two questions premised on the truth of this study: 1. Where do we stand then as the followers of the Abrahamaic religions that rely heavily on the teachings and stories of Moses? 2. Should the people of the book take to the streets in riots as we see in the wake of the Danish cartoonist, or declare a fatwa (a death sentence) as we see in the wake of Rusdie's Satanic Verses? But frankly the Ten Commandments (apparently laid down by a crack head) seem to prove that we should review our drug laws, maybe??

I think it could be true. But where did Moses find the bark from the acacia tree out there in the desert?

I think that israeli scholar is full of himself to say the least. Too often, we find that people are trying to be relevant. Muslims, together with the people of the book, should all be outraged because Musa (AS) is one of (ulul azmi minal rusul) the five great prophets.
"...Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest..." Sura Al-Rad (Chapter 13, Verse 28)
...Gambian by birth, Muslim by the grace of Allah... |

Even for a forensic pathologist to prove the use or abuse of a drug he/she would need a body to examine and locate traces of such drugs. The trend nowadays is for people wanting to sell their writings or get publicity to go into the religiously sensitive matters and get reactions from adherents of such religions which at times becomes violent ergo attract media attention and the resultant hype and publicity. The writer should enlighten the general public of the basis on which he made such a suggestion and if it is based on scientific prognosis I suggest he produces a body ;to wit ,that of prophet Moses .I am damn sure he would not be able to show a body on which he carried out such a thorough forensic examination for him to come to an incontrovertible conclusion and finding which merits a scientific tag.Failure to adduce such evidence should render his theory a tag of bulls crap and fit for the garbage tip . He is to be ignored for being a silly rabble rouser and not accorded his desired goals. We have seen the likes of Salman Rushdie and the crazed Dutch politician making waves in the same manner.Bogus claims by individuals who just try the temperaments of zealots tend to get their goals when such person(s), react thereby give the generalized view that all and not a few adherents of the insulted religious group are violent and unreasonable persons when it comes to tolerance of opposing views of their religions or doctrines.May be he can also use the said drugs and come up with a similar prophetic message as Moses had for his people .The historical existence of that mighty character cannot be obliterated by such cheap shots ,it is like a pea shot at an elephant.Moses has come and delivered his people ;nothing can change that historical record, Peace be on him.

Umm! Interesting. I dont think we should be rushing to condemn the scholar just because his work is sensitive to the ears. After-all, the plant he is talking about can and indeed do result to 'seeing things that are not there' - this is scientific fact. Now, as to whether Moses was a junkie I dont know, but this scholar seems to think so after years of research. What I do know is, he has offended a hell of a lot of people. He is either brave or stupid.

The Sodahead article is hardly going to make millions of people change their belief system surrounding Moses and the Ten Commandments. Moses is judged for his works and the message which he brought to Humankind. When Sodahead becomes a long lost memory people will still remember Moses.
