Hamat Bah deflects to Nadd
The leader of NRP, Mr. Hamat Bah, will be calling on a press conference on Monday April 3rd 2006, to announce his party’s decision to work with Nadd’s flagbearer, Mr. Halifa Sallah.
Speaking to Mr. Bah at his residence, he emphasized the need for both the UDP and NRP to rejoin Nadd, and work towards removing the dictator. According to Mr. Bah, he already summoned a meeting with his executive and grass root supporters, in which they will come up with a press statement to let the public know that they are now Nadd.
In another development, Hamat won’t comment about UDP/NRP coalition, but said he considered the call made by Gambians at home and abroad. “Just wait and you will see on Monday.”, added Mr. Bah.
Mr. Sallah, in his turn when contacted said, they have been consulting daily, and Mr.Bah is welcome Back. Juwara of the Ndam and OJ of the defunct PPP expressed similar sentiments.
FJC when contacted for comments hang up the phone on our home town reporter, and she was heard saying “not me in your mockery.”
An effort to speak with Darboe in the US, where he is on a visit to meet UDP party members was unsuccessful until at the time of piecing this story together.

Greetings, Someone just saw the light that a struggle without unity enables the other side to pick you off one by one...Freedom & peace |

YA ALLAH, please accept our prayers and bring back our opposition leaders to work towards uprooting jammeh the dictator come October 2006. Please let the news about Amat Bah rejoining NADDD be true and be followed by Mr Darboe rejoining. WE REST OUR HOPES ON YOU, YA ALLAH |

Well I still have my doubts with Ahmad Bah.You see I don't trust this Man.What does he actually want? Why is he turning like a second hand of a watch?Look a man has to do his best to be seen to be reliable. If Ahmad Bah really joins our party(NADD) WE shall watch him because He should be watched incase he is turning again.Ahmad was the first to betray NADD thus pulling UDP with him.He created all the misunderstanding amongst the NADD executive and now he wants to come back, Well come Ahmad but this time no way will we let you know all what you've missed. In the mean time, try and convince OUsainu and UDP to join the rank. thanks Sitasungo |

No wonder why NRP is in disarray. Hamat is an individual and his representation in NADD is not very significant as he has lost the respect that he commanded in previous elections as one of those reknown politicians. He has put himself at so low an ebb because of double standards and being a confused person. Not to mention NADD doesn.t desrve to have Morodi and O.J as forefront campainers as they are very crude and selfish politicians looking for revenge rather than stability. Halifa Sallah is exceptionally a great son of this nation and high profile intellectual with enviable integrity. However he was being eclipse by Sedia Jatta and was struggling with a minority party as he never got the ideal people to influence the electorate with what Foroyaa advocates for national development. Some times you also woder that they are too educated for this country to hand them power. A classic case in point is when Sedia brought up mandatory taking of oath and other trivial issues in the house of representative. As a muslim and you must doubt puting his hands on the Holy Koran to start normal business as elected. On a final note no want can challenge Foroyaas theories as they think that they are well researched. However we need to typicalise and understand how to penetrate the masses with our own revolutionized ideals to contain the political climate and bring up democracy and good governance. Am not optimistic in the opposition doing well in the forth coming elections as they are a failure in power struggle. |

Hi all,
Thanks for the rejoinders. I hope every one realized that it was an april fool. I came up with it to make it look like a real story, knowing these are things that Gambians are aiming at now. i apologize to those that didn't get it, and i say ameen to Talibeh's and all your prayers and ameens'.
The Hamat character is a funny one. First, during the flagbearer impasse, he sat in Senegal, making the impasse longer. It was this timing that gave birth to start of the long talks.
I listened to the first UDP/NRp meeting in Brikama, giving more attention to Darboe's and Hamat's speeech. I think, what has happened, i was betrayed by Hamat. I believe when friendship breaks, it should leave and take respect, but trying to lie on your partners will not work, and making them look like bad or bias people will not work either. Only the truth !
Hamat is an individual, just like any of us, therefore entitled to his party of choice. It is the same tactics of politics that he used in saloum, he tried to tell the fulas in saloum to vote for him, because the wollofs are voting for Sainey Mbye. These saloum wollofs don't have a particular tribal favorite, they go by who will help them especially with their groundnut farms lands etc...
At the same time, both Nadd, NRP/UDP alliance must not close their doors for talk (courtesy of Gambia journal editorial), because it is a need.
Many things are getting twisted in forums time, and again- and i wondered what happened to intellectuallity sometimes. Others just get mad or frustrated because you mention a party of their favorite. Others just choose to point fingers at others-individually, when in actual fact it is baseless and holds no merit. Others think it is a time for each to show their association, to whom they support, without calculation of the wrongs. The truth remains both Mr. Darboe and Hamat opted out by themselves, for whatever selfish reasons. By the way, Mr. Darboe is yet to prove his critics wrong that he is not desperate for the presidency. I had a get-togethr with Mr. Darboe, for atleast two hours, in which he ofcourse granted Allgambian an interview then, also other matters. There was also the meeting with Gambians in here, in which his lengthy speech, i have it all in tapes.
There is no need to cry over spilt milk, so what we are faced with is to face the new challenge of engaging both Darboe , and Hamat to return to Nadd, without delay. Those supporters of Darboe and Hamat, must not leave the truth behind. Tell them what is at hand. Otherwise, we are all giving victory to Jammeh.
I rest my case ! |
