A friend of mine will be traveling to The Gambia on the 26th of this month. I did a little research on restaurants in The Gambia and I came up with this names: Ali Baba, The Clay Oven, Esporta, Jewel of India, Mama, Michael's Seafood, The Sand Plover, Sunset Cafe & Grill and African Heritage Guesthouse, Gallery & Restaurants. Looking at the price on some of these menus, the price seems outrageous especially for an American. One can get an excellent meal from a very reputable restaurant in America and pay less than what some of these Gambian restaurants are asking. It seems like Gambia is a destination for POUND holders not those with $. Any reviews or suggestions on the restaurants mentioned above will be welcomed. Is there a restaurant that anyone would recommend? A fairly reasonable price restaurant with good local food will be very ideal.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

The dollar depreciated against all currencies in the world. 4 yrs ago the dollar was aprox the same value as the euro; now it is approx 1 euro = 1.5 dollar. Dollar is losing its dominant position on a world scale.
Thank Bush and his war-government for that

Tell your friend that if he/she wants really good value and at a Gambian price,I suggest Ishas in Serekunda,a plate of chicken and rice 30D and a bottle of iced water! at lunch time, its a local place not fancy, but if you want inexpensive food and basic surroundings, that's the place.
