GPDP HOLDS RALLY AT BUNDUNG
By Annia Gaye

Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress held a rally at Bundung in Serrekunda Central constituency, on Saturday 25 March 2006. The rally was organised by the GPDP militants, councils of elders of GPDP, party mobilizer, the wife of Henry Gomez, Mrs. Isatou Darboe Gomez and member of the community.

Addressing the audience, the members of the party told the people that a multi party system signifies that every person has the right to belong to any party of his/her choice. They explained that to become a leader could only be possible through talking to people in a mature manner but not through violence. They said that if you rule a country where people are not living a dignified life, you are not fit to be a leader. They explained that the GPDP leader, Henry is a Gambian who also wants to contribute his quota towards the development of this Country. According to them The Gambia then and now are quite different; that even taxi drivers know that things have really changed. That they explained in the past one could leave for Basse and return, the same day but that now one has to spend the whole day without arriving not to talk of returning the same day. The speaker at the rally questioned the use of the taxes that are being paid to the Government. They said people are paying taxes ranging from compound to cattle taxes. The Government on people to go back to the land, yet the land does not solve the problem of farmers because The Government cannot buy the produce of the farmers. They asked how people can go to the farm when their produce will not be bought. They further stated that politics is not about insulting each other but an art of winning the hearts and minds of the people to be able to get what one is interested in. They observed that Henry is a hard working man who has his own money and still wants to invest his money in politics to help the Gambian people. They asked the people to help themselves by giving their votes to Mr. Henry Gomez to lead the Country in the next election as the President of The Gambia. The militants told the people that The Gambia is a Country of good people.

They explained to the youths that they should realize that they are the future leaders who do not have a secure future. How can the youths be potential future leaders when they finish their schooling they cannot get a job?” They explained it is because of the lack of job that GPDP came with objectives that are in the interest of the Gambian people. They went to explain that if GPDP is voted in office, the education of our children will be the given priority side by side with farmers’ priorities. They explained that the issue of proper health care delivery will be assured to every Gambian and that the problems in communication will also be solved with a GPDP government. They urged Gambians to vote for GPDP so that Henry Gomez will be in State House by the next election which is just around the corner.

Any campaign stories from these clowns.
