Oh my God I was atleast thinking maybe Yaya is reading the Bantaba that would have been a university for him.But alas no he is not. Another new paper closure would only make things worse.Think of citizen FM?Why is Junkung doing this?Does he think he will just be pinking our flesh and we would only moan? The man really needs a doctor for I think his brain is now turning anti clockwise. Look now president in the mordern world(Gambia inclussive) would rule without opposition even if you are the prophet president send by The Almighty HIM SELF.Even Allah(God),some don't belief in him and HE is not punishing them (Maybe latter).Who is Yaya and what does he think of himself? Well timewill tell.We at Bantaba will always do our best to fill in the gap he creates and there is nothing he can do about that.Even if he closes the Bantaba, another likes of Bantaba will emerge. Serenata, sankofa thinks he a patriot, but I think if he is close to his boss, then he should be careful for the Man is really sick and can oneday take them to the Kanilai bush and ask them to worship him.The Man really has a problem with his brain...THIS IS TRUE...His Brain is now moving anti-clockwise. anyway thank sab, babygirl, talibeh and Sankofa(despite you boss,I think you are a wounderful man and can gain a lot from Bantaba) Mankajang Janyanfara |

Thank you serenata,
Modern society should behave like that.I very well know one thing IF WE WERE IN THE ANCIENT AFRICAN DAYS,YAYA WOULD WORSHIP SOME OF US BECAUSE IF IT IS PROTECTION WITH CHARMS, SOME ARE INVINCIBLE AND WELL AHEAD OF HIM AND HIS MASTERS.I KNOW ITS NOT NECESSARY TO BOAST,WHAT GOD KNOWS IS ENOUGH..Yaya relies on men to do his toturings for him so he can't do things on his own.But we as a nation must know that the world is moving fast with technology and we should rather compete with the rest of the world as a nation or run fast after them. With Jammeh or without, the Gambia will always be there and we her sons/daughters should do everything to help her forge ahead. |

Sankofa, I do not support any attempt by the moderator of the forum to sensor opinion becasue sensorship defeats the very principle of freedom of speech, however in a domocratic society informed debate is not essential but fundamental. You analysis at best lacks any facts or merits and at worse makes no common sense, i bet to the average reader. Your posting pains my brain, very irritating sometimes. |

I agree with you somita(E=nyau) But don't be surprised with sankofa or angry with him,for in my view, he is sensuring people's opinion on his leader and he will alwys try to give what some of us think of his great leader. We bore no gruges against his leader for he leads us all.We only want to help him lead us in the right direction for our common good as a nation.
This was enshrined in our world's best NATIONAL ANTHEM....
FOR THE GAMBIA OUR HOMELAND, LET US TRY AND WORK AND PRAY, THAT ALL MAY LIVE IN UNITY, FREEDOM AND PEACE EACH DAY, LET JUSTICE GUIDE OUR ACTIONS TOWARDS THE COMMON GOOD AND JOIN OUR DIVERSE PEOPLE TO PROOF MAN'S BROTHERHOOD, WE PLEDGE OUR FIRM ALLEGIANCE OUR PROMISE WE RENEW, KEEP US GREAT GOD OF NATIONS TO THE GAMBIA EVER TRUE
This Anthem keeps the Gambia and will always guide against all obstacles towards peace, stability and progress.

He guys listen, Yaya Alphonse Jemus Jebulai Jammeh had all along been not confortable on this seat since he came to power. He has done all and said all to scare people but no way,not even a little success. He started with the media by closing the citizen FM,then he went on treatening Journalist who according to him try to tanish the image of his government. All along uncle Dayda and other gallant media giants stood their grounds defying everything to compromise the freedom of speach and Human Rights. When he could not monouver,he used the chewing stick parliment of his APRC majority. So the lawmakers had approved a bill setting out jail terms for reporters found guilty of sedition or libel and stipulating that newspaper proprietors must sign a $16,600 (£8,648) bond, with their houses as guarantees, to be allowed to publish.
The government had also been trying to set up a media commission with the power to shut down newspapers and imprison reporters. After pressure from journalists, led by Hydara, the law was dropped on December 13. President Yaya Alphonse Jemus Jebulai Jammeh has threatened to bury journalists "six-feet deep". Last year, when asked about journalists criticising his attempts to force them to register, he told the state radio(Radio Gambia) that he believed in "giving each fool a long rope to hang themselves". Journalists, he went on should "either register or stop writing or go to hell".
In an open letter to the president, Hydara condemned his words as "totally repugnant and reprehensible".
Hydara first clashed with the authorities in 1994. Together with six other journalists he was summoned under an act not used since the days of British colonialism. Their crime had been to criticise the coup d'etat which ousted the elected president and installed the then army second Lt. Jammeh, and to call for a return to civil rule. After 1994, Hydara campaigned for press freedom and democracy as Jammeh brought in draconian laws against political and media opposition.
In 1998 Hydara called for opposition parties to be given equal general election air time and newspaper space, which got him labelled as an opposition mouthpiece. Soon after, the British-based global campaign for free expression, Article 19, accused the Gambian government of harassing opposition activists and journalists.
Back in the Gambia, Hydara and his colleagues continued to face intimid ation. The residence of the BBC correspondent, Ebrima Sillah and the premises of the Independent newspaper, for which Hydara was a columnist, was burnt down. The BBC was also warned of biased reports against the president.
Since 1974 Hydara had been the local correspondent for Agence France-Press (AFP) and was one of the longest-serving correspondents of the press freedom organisation, Reporters without borders. Deyda advocated for press freedom until he was brutally killed. But his legacy lives on to date.So no one can stop people from expressing their views no matter what pressure you use,you will only increase your foes rather than friends. The likes of : D.A.Jaw,E.Sillah,B.Jallow,Y.Jallow,P.Mbye,O.Darboe,F.Badgie, Sawaneh,A.Sillah,M.Sanyang,K.Barrow,S.sarr,T.foon,M.Y.Jallow,M.B.Njie,A.Dibba,S.Jarju, and so on and so on.I can't remember them all but Gambia will always produce wounderful sons/daughters who will keep standing for her survival matter what circumstances they may face.
I know Gambia will always be there even if I die for her thats why I will always stand for the truth regardless of tribe or religious affiliations.I want the Gambia to be the best and by God the best it shall be.
