It is true that most of us(my very self included)hate the APRC regime for genuine democratic and patriotic reasons. However we should not mask this hatred by trying to convince ourselves that oportunist putschists and rogue elements in our midst never attempted to destabilise the peace by trying to overthrow the despotic(never-the-less democratically elected) government of Dr Jammeh. As desperate as we are to witness an immediate change from the present status quo that continues to be a cancer to a free, tranparent and democratic society in the Gambia, coups and counter coups should never be given a chance to achieve our noble aim, as the only option to send this immature and gluttonous regime packing. It was in a similar light that perceived democrats around the world displayed acts of indiffernce or even give the tumbs-up to George W Bush and his allies to invades Iraq -so long as Saddam and his murderous regime are ousted. Well Sadadam was ofcourse overthrown and eventually capture but it left Iraq on the brink of civil war with murderous butchers slaughtering their fellow country men. There was indeed a coup plot to overthrow the APRC government and the pepetrators should be treated as nothing but traitors. Traitors, in that they not only tried to destabilise the peace in our dear nation but they also allowed a foreign government to use them to slaughter their own country men if that is what it takes to achieve their aims. Yes, the architect of this attempted coup was no other than President Wade and his senegalese intelligence service. I have said this man is a dreamer and he is getting desperately dangerous with each passing day. Firstly let it be known be known that Wade's number one ambition is to go down in history as the man who brought stability to Casamance by ending the bitter conflict. This was his foremost ambition and he has not forgiven Jammeh for cosying up to the rebels and funding their activities. Wade had spent more money on the Casamance conflict than is necessary and mostly in some ill advised ways. First, he tried to buy off the rebels by offering billions of CFA francs to treacherous rebel bosses to quit the rebellion and live the high life for the rest of their lives(Father Diemacone Senghore included). This money only reached an unscrupulous few and helped divided the fighters into smaller factions based on tribe and kinship. When the first venture failed Wade began to approach the various factions with further lure of money and arms to eliminate other factions perceived to not hinder to his call to give up the fight. This again woefully failed thanks to interference of Yahya Jammeh. Very recently Wade has turned his attention to newly elected government of Nino Viera in Guinea Bissau, having tried and failed with the previous regime of Coumba Yalla. Most of the money given by Wade to Coumba Yalla to help quell the Casamance uprising was diverted to Yalla's private banks account instead of funding the Bissau Guinean millitary. In Nino Viera Wade had found staunch ally in that they both hate Jammeh. Remember it was Jammeh who financed and facilitated the overthrow of the previous regime of Viera using the late General Anasumana Manne. Viera knows that inorder to survive long in power he needs to keep the military happy and in Wade he has easy access to funds. Yes Wade had been paying the salaries of the Guinea Bissau army from poor Senegalese tax payers' money as well as fund from his new found relationship with The People's Republic of China in these recent months. Tagme Na Waie and his Bissau Guinean generals are only too happy to engage the Cassamance rebels while their pockets are finely lined and the rank and file continued to receive their monthly salaries. And ofcourse they go extra help from smaller rebel factions heavily funded by Wade to eliminate Salif Sadio, who in Wade's figment of imagination is diference between lasting peace and countinuous fighting in Casamance. Wade believes Sadio is the only obstacle to his quest as the liberator of Casamance. Another big error by him. The smaller factions he is financing will soon turn against him laughing all the way to Yahya Jammeh Allah's bank. Yes Monsieur Wade, Dr Jammeh is alive and kicking, and he is coming after you. Salif Sadio and other rebel leaders will soon be fattening themselves at the Atlantic Hotel in Banjul while gathering their thoughts on yet another assault. Let the truth be told, the only obstacle to peace, stability and development in Senegambia are the two leaders of Senegal and Gambia. Knowing fully well that age is very much agaisnt him, Wade is becoming psychopathically dangerous in trying to focus all his dreams into what small time he has got left in power. He is ill, too old and physically fragile but he will go on till he literally drop dead inorder to achieve his dreams. On the other side of the border Yahya Jammeh, ever so gluttonous, is getting stupider with every piece of meat he can't chew properly. Right now he is a 13 years old boy in a forty-something-years old man's body. How a fifty tonne blubber hiding behind a khaftan the size of my bedroom can escape a real uprising is beyond me. I would bet my great, great grandma that Mr Saine of the NIA torture chambers would beat him to the Casamance border any time, guide dog or not. Let us all pray that allege coupist are not tortured to death and that they are served with the require measure of justice. Like i said before anybody found gulty is a traitor.

Guys am sorry to say that all contributions coming through are not only divergent views but of very serious confusing senses. Please compatriots, just forward your comments exclusively from your own perception of the situation without trying to influence others that your views overide everybody else and that your ideas are the best. We are trying to resolve our political landscape and destiny for the better and lest make the best of this open forum. Most of us are not happy with the undemocratic goverment under a terror and dictator. Looking at the present situation of how average Gambians are confused about events affecting their daily lives and not having strong political parties and good politicians to address the situation. Am of the opinion that Jammeh led a successful at the time it was generally welcome and ripe! As a patriot he acted swift to take-over. He got pluses and minuses but power corrupts and he has now changed to be sombody else you can distinctly give a proper description. We also have other great sons and daughters in this nation who could are willing to do similar sacrifices as patriots if there are no other alternative to turn the clock around through the political arena. Coming to the recent failed aborted cuop from what the facts revealed so far, there were very good intentions to deal with the leadership but cowardice, betrayal, hepocrisy and disorientation of common Gambians made it foiled. |
