Karamba it seems as it has been along time since you last visited Gambia. Because you would know that people a lot of people have access to satilite TV. Therefore they aren't limited to one station. They also have access to internet cafes and telecentres. Therefore as people in compounds share TV viewing many more people have access.
So this tightly controlled one channel state you have depicted is completely inaccurate of Gambia.

My friend don't be a little G string diva , Sister Omega never once told you she was a lawyer. It's obvious you are blinded by stupidity right now. Like you rightly said socrates was killed based on telling the truth, You cyber prostitutes are liars and leaches ,don't compare your selves to such a great man. If its up to you, you'll lie you ass off till you die simply because you just cannot admit facts. Sister Omega never said she wanted you arrested or anyone ,what she is telling you as a fool that can read and write is that you are breaking the Law and that your stupid ass is definetly doing. This is the Gambian problem they will break the law and act stupid when it comes time to pay the price, guess what i don't even have to tell you what they say or do when arrested. They completely forget and act as if they are saints arrested innocently. The rule of law prevails fool............................peace

It is an honour to share the wisdom of the great philosopher J. Dampha.
Dampha took an ambivalent stance about Law & Order hence; it is a matter of consensus. A social -contract between members of society, it is negotiable and therefore calls for patience, perseverance and tolerance.
He said; His days are numbered, the king who forces his physician to provide remedy, for a medical doctor cannot do the job of a chemist.
The great philosopher Dampha mentioned the notion of Order in a very short passage in the chapter dealing with relationships in general, in “The book of Practice”. If One comes to a new society One should look for the giant not the dwarf (giant is a metaphor for trustworthiness) A giant does what h/she says and says what h/she does (pledge) He said; without Trustworthiness, there shall be no Order and without Order, there shall be no Trustworthiness. This duality is the foundation on which society itself and all consensuses and social relationships are built on, and without it, society falls into pandemonium. |

Then it boils down to the fact that "manners maketh man." Trustworthiness! That is a valuable component in human possession. The entire commercial system for a good part operates on trust and confidence. By extension we all have responsibility in seeking to defend what "right thinking members of society" will take with trust and confidence.
"Rules of the game." From a point of view you warned that in every social interplay there are rules to observe. I find that quite acceptable to decent interaction especially over a forum this diverse. Thank you Janko for this great input. |

Reports have it that a heavily loaded firewood truck on Monday ran into a crowd of APRC political rally attendants killing ten persons including three children from the same parents. That is a national disaster. From recent adverts on the Daily Observer (Gambia) the president is throwing another celebration to mark one year since he claimed being able to cure every deadly disease, majoring in cure for HIV/AIDS. While the president is happy to throw another musical jamboree for his wonderful discoveries the sudden death of these victims is a sad event; something the president is able to use as excuse for not throwing a party. If the president persists on creating a musical occasion within this span of time he will be seen dancing on raw graves of the very people he calls APRC supporters. How does that go? |

Sister Omega...at the coast what you say may be true? !
But in the villages it is not.
MOST people don't have electricity, let alone tv, or satelite.
I think when you visit Gambia you must just stay in combos, which is a VERY small part of the country and doesnt represent the majority in any way. |

People using other means of accessing information different from state own radio and TV, they do so at personal cost and sacrifice. Even those who don't complain know that Gambia Radio and Television are the publicity instruments for propagating APRC and the leadership. This complain is not against an individual. The practice is WOEFULLY WRONG. In UK you some times get the feeling that public media is more against the Prime Minister and lot in favour of the Conservative Party. That is just to show how the party in power is not free to corrupt public media facilities. The absence of such is where things are badly wrong in Gambia. For a president rich as that what stops him from establishing a private radio and television station for self and party publicity? The national radio and TV are public facilities. To keep them as private publicity tools in projecting one person is wrong by account of all reasonable assessment. In the event the current government of Gambia is toppled or defeated in polls the succeeding regime will be alerted once the game of personally monopolizing state media is practiced. Why is anyone so soaked in passion for an individual that whatever that person does is to be accepted for nothing?
With all the monopoly over public media it is clear how Gambia's government of the day is able to deceive citizens that they are advancing our welfare? It is all false hope for nothing. Let the government provide air time to progressive citizens for alternative voice. They may not but the recent commissioning of Alternative Voice of Gambia www.radioavg.com is there to convey the missing information coming from the regime's propaganda airwaves. Let us stay away from casting images and strive to focus on progressive issues. For 13 years now too much propaganda milling is still not able to convince right thinking Gambians. Imagine if the regime was fair enough to let other voices heard!! No, that is not the type of regime in Gambia. What the regime in Gambia does (and so well) is to maim and kill those who dare to address truth outside the false scheme of propagation to fool the population. |
