The death has been announced of Serign Saliou Mabacke of Touba in Senegal. He was the Halifa General(Spiritual Leader ) of the Mourides. He was the last son of the Late saint Serign Amadou Bamba Mbacke(Bah). Serign Saliou died late Friday and was buried in camera to avoid a stampede. It was after he was buried that the news was broken to the public. He was 92yrs old. President Wade has ordered 3 days national mourning.

Thanks for sharing. I saw the story on freedom. It would be nice for translation from french to english.
One thing that is not certain to me, whether they the succeeding caliphates of the great Sheik Amadou Bamba Ba (May Allah Be Pleased with him) denounced on the other followers (talibehs)whose way is not conforming to the teachings of the respected Bamba Ba (may Allah be pleased with him.) Do you or any one know about their stance on those 'talibehs?' Thanks though while there is time.

Amongst his achievments during his reign is the completion of an Islamic University with a capacity of 5000 students, an extension of the central mosque equipped with modern sound system w which could reach 12km and a housing projects in the city free for those who wish to live therein. |

Madis, just a point of addition: The late salieu was was 92 years old and the late Serign Touba died in 1927, according some links i followed.

JUST FOR THE RECORDS:
A friend of mine who once visited the place and met the one who departed (R.I.P Imam Mbacke!) has a lot to offer on the topic. From his own words, the succeeding caliphates denounced it loud and clear. In fact he added that the strayed ‘Bai-faals’ are punished when they show up in Touba. I cannot wait to see his article soon.
