Chairman Jammeh's address to the nation about the failed coup attempt and it's aftermath is troubling.
Jammeh's assurance to "set an example" seem to indicate the desire of vengeance without the due process of law.
I cannot support a military coup , and it is very unfortunate that anybody could contemplate a change of government by military force in our tiny, but lovely country.I hope this alleged coup attempt is not just b"cooked up" to create an excuse for Jammeh to purge once again both the military and the civil society of his real or perceived enemies.
Jammeh has indicated that there are outside forces taht could have instigated this attempted coup in the Gambia , to prevent the AU summit from convening in the Gambia.I wonder who they are !
Throughout Jammeh's speech he has lauded his government's achievements in bringing development to the the country. But perhaps Jammeh should also know that physical improvent ( infrastructural development) should not be an excuse to dehumanize the Gambian people.
Military coups are wrong , and cannot be justified. However , the best way to prevent them will not be found in arbtrary arrests and mass murder. One certain way of reducing the likelihood of another coup in the Gambia is to change the political infrastructure of the Gambia. Our presidents should not overstay their popularity and competence. A term limit !
I am pretty sure the APRC could continue Jammeh's development efforts under another leader within the party. So there is no need for Jammeh to cling to power for too long.
I am impressed by Binneh Minteh's article on AllGambia , but his implied call for an armed struggle is one I cannot contend with.
Let us make more efforts to effect democratic , peaceful change in the Gambia , not another military takeover.
Thanks.

This is a very mature way of thinking by Kayjatta. Thanks for your wise advice. Although we want to one day enjoy the absence of Jammeh in our political scene, but not to any price. Lets work on getting our selves together in a peaceful revolution that Jammeh himself can enjoy the fruits of democracy. That is how people in Ukraine did with the Orange revolution. Now they are not satisfied and the man is in trouble. We should always advocate for more democratic reforms and desist from all forms of violent confrontations. Peace!!

It is the mark of intelligence to entertain an idea without accepting it.

Its never easy for an African leader not Jammeh alone its Africa as a whole. The presidential palace is so horney sweet that once you taste it with your tongue,oh God to leave it,you have to borrow strength to do it not you own will be able to do it.

We have always had a culture of one king being deposed by another. We are not used to Ex King or ex chief in our history. One has to be dead first or in exile for there to be a replacement. May be i am wrong but i would like to know one. So why blame yaya

The evil that one does will live to hunt him. One individual or a group of individuals connot continue to terrorise a whole nation if the people resist. I hope and pray to ALLAH our dear Gambia will never end up like Sierra Leone, Monrovia, Somilia etc.

We must continue to condemn any satanic actions perpetrated by any one, whether our ally or opponents. We must continue to speak the truth. Every human being deserves respect and should be accorded some. Those accused of plotting to overthrow his government should be assumed innocent until proven guilty in a competent court of law. Why jumping to conclusion? Yaya will be held responsible for any thing that goes wrong with those arrested. Enough is enough. There should not be any place for behaviours like this in our civilised Gambia.

But look my doubt is what had made those responsible to confess to their crimes? You see we sometimes wrongly blame Jammeh.Though he has a lot on his hands, but if those soldiers did really confessed to their witched ideas of pluging us into chaos, then Jammeh is not to blame for their crimes.Though they should be treated according to the rule of law but if they have freely confested to their own crimes, then they as no less than rebels.(Just like Jammeh himself)(My opinion)

Oh God,
I may one day but I don't want him to usethe media to say I have cross carpet to his party.I want to see him speak.I don't know whether I will pick some important things from it for I know is is human and not as stupid as some think he is.
but I don't want to learn his art of medical knowledge.I have my own traditional gift from my family and anyone from our area know we(our family still pocesses that art of curing that disease but I don't practice it though I teach my eldest son incase he needs it but I my self don't need it.So I don't need Jammeh to teach me.I would rather go to the medical doctors when I get ill.
Thanks for the offer but I decline.I would really want to sit with Junkung.Maybe he would not want to sit with me because he thinks I don't like him but no I hate no one except who hates my Gambia the only Gambia I have.

Sankofa , you definately do not belong to this age. You could have been a dinnossaur.
But the actual point is that you need to have a mental re-birth.Your believes and words are not helping neither Jammeh nor the Gambia.Being a stooge starts with self alienation of the kind you are afflicted with. You need to be realistic and look at your leader as a human being with strengths and weaknesses. That is important for your own healthy survival in this changing world.
May God bless you .Thanks.
