kayjatta,
As I am not among the lots that is intrested in power and have ristricted means, I am not capable. I shall leave it to you hence you depend on the help from G.W.Bush Jr. He has problems with alkohol that is why he reacts in the manner he does. Don't you know that your mentor does abouse alkohol? Make research there in the US with the AAA then you will find out.

Wow, Alhassan those are big statements:
-I depend on help from George W. Bush?
-My mentor?
Are you really serious about those statements?

True Bush has confessed to his earlier addiction to alcohol, and said he has now been saved and does not drink any more. The American people understood and forgave him. Afterall, many people in the U.S., including me, at sometime experiment with alcohol and drugs. Most people however, recover from it and live normal responsible lives.
I smoked cigarettes and weed at high school briefly as a teenager, just like many of my friends at the time. Most of us kicked the habit after a while and continued to live clean lives.
But the real issue is that weed is illegal in the Gambia, so if there is evidence that the president (who must be held at a higher standard of responsibility than ordinary Gambians) uses illegal drugs, not in the past but presently, it is a very serious situation that needs to be addressed...

Mr. Alhassan:

You need to explain why you think I depend on George Bush's help, and that he is my mentor.
Those statements grossly insulted my pride because my philosophy of life is against dependency, I strongly believe in self-reliance. Unless I misunderstood you, you need to explain your position or atleast be humble enough to apologize...

kayjatta,
My reasons is that you admare Americans and their ways of doing things. In the manar you access Gambia and its people as a whole. You are an American not so you have said? I repiled that I was not capable of belling the cat. You who is intrested of power can start.

kayjatta,
Do you have a proofs or is it just rumors or accusations? Who among the lot here can give us a tangable proof? Have you tested him possitive for having THC in his blood or urine. Unless we come with a proof I cannot endose it.

What make you insist that he uses it even though you have no prove? Did you test his blood sample ?

I have no proofs that is why I have not mentioned it at all. This is not the way I think.

Well Well,is this a serious attempt to deal with corruption or just newspaper talk? whatever it is it is fantastic that the Point has the courage to publish such a piece, a few fethers in high places will be ruffled no doubt about that!
(Ah well no new compounds this year for some ,if this piece is serious!! )

Hey guys i understand your sentiments on this issue, but what is more shameful, convicting a public official to a paltry D3000 fine or the tens(could be even hundreds) of thousands of dalasis that it cost taxpayers to finance this lengthy and flimsy case. All indications to me are that a public official was publicly humiliated and persecuted out of grudge and malice than for his competence. No disrespect to your opinion but i am sure there are bigger cases of theft by public officials that went unpunished. Besides that cost incured for such a lengthy case of such small proportion could have been better effected somewhere else.

If David Colley had been charged and found guilty and fined for stealing a generator,Thats a move in the right direction as it should deter others from trying anything similar. But is that really the case or did somebody somewhere wants him guilty?

Suffice it to say, this makes me wonder how about some top civil servants who were brought before commissions of enquiry and found to have stolen from state while in office. Some where fired and later hired while some went unpunished. What a drama unfolding before our very eyes.Corrupt before but clean now to steal more

The court would always do their duty to the country if their hands are untired and allowed to dispence justice without fear favour, ilwill or affection. But uuuuuum, the drummer has his feet on the stick that beats the drum. Those he wish to get sentenced get sentenced and those who he wants freed are freed.

Just under your very eyes, two people were rightly convicted and sentenced and while serving their sentences, one got freed by a presidential perdon while his associate still serves his term. Is justice? accountability? fairness?...........UUUUUUUUM

Gambia poor Gambia when shall you gain freedom for your sons and daughters?
