Jan-jan-bureh

what does the 'bureh' means. Obviously, 'jan-jan' means scattered. also, i ask, what were they running for to get scattered? did he say?

This old joke came to memory. It was an episode and people started running not knowing the direction they were heading to, that's where the danger lay..............

Santa. Foday if my memeory serves me right is retired Primary Headmaster. He was in the opposition and has been interested in politics for a longtime.

About Jangjanbureh, the oral history i heard is that the first settlers were Jawo brothers and i think one was called Bureh, which is a Fula name anyway. I could be wrong. The source is oral history

dalton, madis and jambo .the man is now call honorable i guess that means a member of parliament .the word janjan is rightly explain by dalton ,the second part s unboritah meaning we ran away ,they people who ran away according to foday were men and women whom slave masters were try to capture .they use the island for secure hidding place .the man haman touray ,he said a man who help this people running into safety .he later became the first alkalo of georgetown .madi you could also be right ,oral history swing many ways.but foday was quoting dates and names of people to support his claims.
