Gambiabev of cause I travel the country and our experiences are different from each other because we are not the same people. We both live in Britain and our experiences are different in my neighbourhood youths are getting stabbed and shot to death over rubbish. So I put to you do you travel the country do you see what I see? The last incident was a 16 year old boy who was murdered yesterday. So don't come preaching to me!

Bev Yes to answer your question I did go upcountry I did visit villages where there was plenty of food, water and medical facilities, unemployment is an issue of course. Then again I work with the unemployed on a daily basis in the UK helping them to find work here in the UK. Poverty is relative to where you live.

As for inflation that is something I agree that needs to be addressed but is part of a Global issue as well as a subregional West African issue. Infrastructural development is of course important and it is not just the main arterial roads which need to be repaired but the local roads. You may mock but just imagine if your own street was impassible I'm sure you would be complaining if you had to suffer the road conditions Gambians have to endure on a daily basis.

Yes it is very sad that babies have to die unnecessarily anywhere in the world from lack of attention, and agree with you it shouldn't happen in this time. Better training in Midwifery is a solution and also greater incentives given to those midwives to stay in their countries, and a slow down on the Brain Drain of Medical Professionals to the west could be another solution in an ideal world. However until their is a ethical change for a war on want i.e,poverty alleviation fair and free trade trade the most vulnerable will continue to suffer this is a Global struggle because the majority of the world is poor whether they are in the rich nations of the North or the developing nations of the South. Useful reading on infant morality to widen the perspective on this subject away from petty politicshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_infant_mortality_rate_(2005)
