I Love You – Tijan to Gambians By Modou Nyang
Tijan Jaiteh has sent an, I love you message, to Gambians in appreciation of the huge support and interest the public have shown in his career.
Jaiteh was speaking to Brann’s website after celebrations at Bergen City Center after the Bergen Club Brann, were confirmed champions of the 2007 league ending a 44 year wait. And Tijan who was also awarded the clubs’ young player of the year by the club’ fans, said: “This is a big moment in my career” he said, after receiving the award before Brann’s last league match against Viking on Sunday. Jaiteh joined Brann at the start of this season from Gambia Ports Authority FC and he went on to make 16 appearances in all competitions for the club so far, 11 in the league, 1 in the Norway cup and 4 in the UEFA Cup. And as now as it turns out, his contributions for the club have been recognized by the club’s faithful supporters with an award for the best young player of the year. Brann are still competing in the UEFA Cup where they are drawn in group D against German team Hamburg SV and French club Stade Rennes. Whilst Crotian double holders Dinamo Zagreb and Swiss side FC Basel make up the rest.
Tijan’s appearances for Brann were however limited as he spent four weeks away with the Gambia Under – 20 team for the FIFA U – 20 World Cup in Canada, where the Young Scorpions progressed to the first elimination round. “I want to send my love to all my friends and my entire family in [the] Gambia” he added after the celebrations at the City center in Bergen, where close to a 100, 000 people gathered to pay tribute to their heroes for bringing the trophy that evaded Bergen for 44 years.

Tijan deserves a great commendation as well for his great performance, for making us proud and representing The Gambia out there. Keep doing your thing Tijan, I don't know about others but, as far as I'm concern, you've earned my 100% support, keep it up.... |
