May be it is time to see the glass as half full instead of half empty. Any positive developments going on at Home. The University i believe is making progress. How about Arch 22. Is more revenue being generated? What is going on with the oil exploration. has a site been identified yet?

I have noticed that this piece has been read 95 times and yet no one wants to join in. Come on guys, there must be some positive sides of yaya that we need to talk about. Give the devil his due.

Kondorong, during my childhood days, I used to hear people say that "iblize" used to be the most obedient servant of Allah. But one act of disobediece relegated him to be the most dreaded.

Probably this is how most people perceived Jelanke and cannot see any good side of him. Just my opinion brother.

You may be right but there must be some Green Boys visiting this site. It is your turn to turn the tables around.

Kondorong you are funny.
The green boys contributed to Jelanka's worst sides.
But I think he does have a good side:Like the Junkung Jammeh Hospital in Bwiam,AFPRC Hospital in Farafenni Mordern Airport,Kombo Coastal Road to Kartong Are all good contributions of his to Nation building.
Jelanka now seem to see the light of democracy,it might not be too late despite somany human right abuses,he still can do a bit and I think he is heading towards that.
My opinion..

I am serious. The guy must have done some good. Like him or not. I am trying to get to our ability to give credit where its due. I am sure Baba Jobe has a lot to tell us how wonderful Junkung was.

I persoally believe that Junkung can redeem himself. It is not too late for him to do so. However as a democrat, i believe that he should honestly answer the many questions gambians have.

I dont know and i dont think Junkung can tell you. Gambian ministers have the shortest tenure of office any where and the average is 6 months. I cannot keep the count because before you update your diary, five would have already been sacked or recycled.

You are mad,
Killing me with laughter.
But I think some one out there is keeping track record of the number of ministers.

Com on,
You people should stop castigating my head of State like that.
Don't you understand He has got supernatural powers? and will know when you talk bad of him(Only a Joke).
But maybe some one is following the process as it will seve well in a book for the young generation to know tomorrow.
Jelanka hires and fires at will as the constitution allows him,but is there any abuse of office in that as no one seems to find out whether those fired as legally fired within our constitution?

we all have our +ve and -ve sides. when our -ve side outweighs our +ve side, then we are termed "bad". Junkung may be a bad leader, but he does have his +ves. his first bright idea was the GRTV only for him to destroy it by turning it into his campaign machinery. gambians have long since yearned for visual educative media. jawara has failed us in that area.
his greatest achievement is the university of the Gambia. educational institutes are the conerstone of every developed society. all the scientific wonders emanate from universities all over the world. we have to critique his acts, but we have to support him on the good things he initiated. i think that is one problem existing in the gambia right now. when people dislike you, they don't want to see your good sides. Junkung is not my cuppa tea and definately i would love to see him out, but as long as he is in there, we have to give him hands on some of those good initiatives he take.

My dear brother/sister,
You definitely deserve a bag of Kola nuts for the observation above,and that gives me hope for the future,that we have men and women who are prepared and ready to voice their opinion without fear.I want to publicly associate myself with your observation in that every boy and girl in the Gambia today knows or ought to know that as long as they apply themselves in their school work,they can receive free University Education.President Jammeh has made that possible,not only that,he has unconsciously made Education a right rather than a priviledge for Gambian citizens.I wholeheartedly salute him for this,for having the courage,determination and foresight to see this through.I am of the opinion that history will judge him kindly for this and other infrastructural developments that has been taking place in the country taking into account his own educational achievement(I think he is a High School Graduate).
Let me now give you a few examples of how former British Prime Ministers are usually remembered:
1.Harold Wilson Labour Prime Minister1970-74 will be remembered first and foremost for the opening of the Open University in the UK;and for coining the phrase "a week is a long time in Politics".How true;
2.Ted Health(Conservative PM) for taking UK into the European Union;
3.Jim Callaghan(Labour PM) for the "Winter of Discontent" wherein
the whole country came to a standstill;
4.Margaret Thatcher(the Iron Laby)[Conservative PM]for Privatisation,which has now become a global or Universal way of offloading Loss-making businesses in the Public Sector,a tool which is increasing being used by the IMF to saboteur Third World Development.For Reducing the Powers of Trade Unions,Giving Council Tenants the Right to Buy their own Homes(which was another way of redistribution of Wealth in the country);
5.John Major(Consetrvative PM)will be remembered for "Black Monday" whreein speculators in the Currency market had a run on the Pound, the Government in an attempt with the Bank of England to protect the pound,wasted Billion of taxpayers money,Uk had to withdraw/postpone membership of the European Monetary Union.That is one reason why Britain is not using the European Currency:euro. and of course,for sleeping with Edwina Currie,a beautiful and flambouyant lady,brutally frank and honest,a fellow Conservative member of Parliament;
6.Neil Kinnock,though he never made it to 10 Downing Street,he will be remembered for kicking Militants out of the Labour Party;
7.For Tony Blair the jury is still out.
We should therefore encourage the President(Jammeh) to continue pumping more money into the Univerity to develop it further and the Nation's Health service which is badly in need of funding,and put in place stringent control Mechanism to safe guard the proper running of the Nation's Health Service.
I will always remember him and be grateful to him for this foresight.Lastly,He should as a matter of urgency go all out to improve his Human Rights Credentials and adopt a molecule of modesty and humility,if he does this,he will in my opinion,win more admirers in the Gambia and beyond.May God guide him in his deliberations.Amin.
This is my personal opinion.
Best wishes,
Musa amadu.

he did good, but its time to leave. plus, most of the good he did was in the begining of his term, which just shows that terms have to be limited if you expect a president to behave her/himself.

But who will take over after Yaya?
NADD? Oh my god my party is tearing appart.Am so sad the opposition cannot realise the importance of unity against a powerful force.
I can assure you all that neither NADD nor UDP/NRP Coalation will win this comming election.There is more dis unity in the opposition camp than APRC.
In the APRC the only fight is for vice-president as I-N-Saidy was said not to have any intention to continue after elections.So Edward and Jali Jankuba both want the post.But according to sources,Jammeh had a man in mind very influential in Gambian politics.Time will tell.
