Today am very saddened and shamed,

I know I share this pessimism with majority of ordinary Gambians,

who will not speak out for fear of retribution on them and their family,

who dear not write their stories for fear of being targeted,

who dear not stand for freedom because they think it does not exist,

who are force to accept whatever is given to them because they think they have no choice to say no,

who are force into poverty, hunger and starvation because the national cake is not evenly divided,

whoes children died on their way to hospital because the nearest clinic is 50miles away,

whose children are our maids because they cannot afford to send them to school and therefore their only option for survival,

they are ordinary Gambians, men and women in the streets, market women, farmers, porters and weavers,

these are the people the APRC party visit every five years and promise to help but only to end up helping ourselves with luxury cars that only the rich on the planet can afford, with mansions that are meant for kings and queens, with their offspring’s in schools that ordinary children can only dream of.

Today I am saddened and a shamed.
