Culled from the Point Newspaper. Certainly if this could happen and the police are no where to be seen, may be someone can tell us who is incharge of protecting life and property.
Shooting at Castle Filling Station Wednesday 15th March 2006
Abdou Bah a sales assistant at Castle supermarket along Kairaba Avenue’s Westfield end, was last Sunday night shot several times by an unidentified gunman, according to reports reaching The Point. The incident which attracted a large horror-stricken crowd was said to have happened between the hours of 11.00p.m. and midnight. It was reported that the gunman suddenly approached a female staff who was holding a bag said to contain part of the daily sales of the filling station.
According to an eyewitness, the man who was said to have masked himself attempted to point a pistol at the female staff when the victim, Abdou, shouted, “He is shooting you! He is shooting you!” The man all of a sudden, turned around on Abdou and shot him in the leg and arms. Talking to The Point at his hospital bed yesterday afternoon, Abdou confirmed the story adding two bullets were removed from his body. He is however said to have been recovering.
Meanwhile the alleged gunman who was later apprehended and locked in one of the toilets at the filling station, managed to escape through a tiny window to freedom. The gunman is still at large.

What a story1!! What is happening to our dear motherland? What do we expect after all, if the head of state is threatening to kill 20,000 people in the name of peace and security forces slaughtering the people they are supposed to protect.
I hope and pray that our country will not plunge into more trouble. Before one would not even hear about murder incidents, may be only on the news bulletine, but now it is in our door steps. 'HAS BUNALAHU WANEHMAL WAKEELU'
Please Ya Allah, save The Smiling coast and her peop;e.

The Gambia police force are very irresponsible, very useless and utterly insensitive to the plight of of the gambian public. It is really upsetting the number of crimals who who are getting away with impunity since the last couple of years.crimes which are next to treason are condoned in the gambia since the shotting of lawyer sillah, Dayda Hydara, the discovery of ghanian bodies in brufut, the shotting on the coastal Road, the armed robbery on the soma road, the armed robery in Njongon NBD,the attack on Ebrima sillahs resident, the radio one FM arson attack, the indepedent news paper, you name it.To all this crime, the gambian police has failed to parade a single culprit to the public. What is the use of the police then ? Are they there to protect us or their pockets.Do they forgot that their salary is coming from the tax payers to whom they inturn owed them their security. You just visit any police stations ( I mean ANY nation wide) from 10pm onwards, you find officers gathered around a charcoal put quaffing "Attaya" and playing "Dam" all night long.Is this what you called internal security? with all the noise the government is making about security, the citizens are terrorised perpectually with impunity. what is their defination of security and compromise? the situation is really a very sad one and by the look of the developments, politically we might have to endure another five years of the bad system. The thaught of it just makes me feel sick. How many more people will fall victim in the next five years?I only hope the oppostion will put aside their diffrences just to salvage our dear mother land by uniting under one umberella to uproot this rotten government out of office. It is still a possibility but only with a united front, otherwise lets forget it.God bless the Gambia. |
