I was in the Gambia when on a fateful day it was announced that Deyda Hydra, a respectable journalist has been gunned.I never believed it, because I asked myself what could warrant the sudden death of a humble man like his type. So I decided to catch a glimpse the scene myself.
As I was heading to the Serrekunda highway, I saw many people gathered at the crime scene.Even though I didn't see the dead body, I could visibly see the traces of blood on the ground.
I my widest thinking I know that it is only bad people who are punished sometimes with their life. But here the case is different, directly opposite.Good people are killed for empowering the powerless in society, for bringing information to the doorsteps of the ordinary Gambian.
I couldn't imagine how his family would react to the news when they heard it.I beseech the Almighty God to give them courage to go through this bereavement.
My worry is that, are the good people in the Gambia staying aloof for the perpetrators of this heinous crime to go unpunished? For God's sake something must be done. What are the likes of KARAMBA doing about this?
I wait to hear from you.

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

kumi ,good question but sadly any case file that we believe the state machinaries are involve (aprc) thugs either in uniform or blind suporters (green boys) ,that crime goes unpunished.that is the sad truth many will want us forget .but we will not layof this crimes ,we will talk about them and write about them. how many similar cases are still not brought before gambian courts ? can any sound writer bring forward a compilation .i ask yero jallow of gainako news paper a while ago to pen an open letter to our HE requesting him to explain why his government still cannot bring any person worth the salt in the case of deyda ,koro, makalo, dumbuya, manneh etc ?this people are human beings ,whatever crimes they have commit let the due process take its course .even if we have a death penalty ,people most be taken to court and then the judge or whoever is presiding give the verdict not the other way round .

Folks,
Deyda Hydara's killers will never be caught as long as Yahya Jammeh remains in power. There is this old adage in mandinka that goes like this"ning jaloo sing beh loring forang kang kosiroo buka keyno".After my brief stint in the fourth estate i know how much Deyda has been a thorn in the flesh of this self-imposed regime.

I prefer to die in poverty than to live in slavery.

This is said well, but the darkest night must break day.

By now, i thought it would have been certain after all these revelations. I am still on the pages of former Colonel Sam Sarr, a good reference for seeing some of these things.

Try a copy, it won't hurt.

Who then in a right mind is able to deny Chairman Jammeh the high title of National Killer? That/those person(s) must be jealous to let Jammeh enjoy his hard-earned title.
