If we wait till dooms day no one will get fool proof evidence of the said brutality by waiting for The Gambia Government to open up. The cover up will be a continuous affair and we can argue over the case till our jaws drop off. If the Drummer steps on the drumstick and claims that it is lost no one will find it till he moves his foot off the stick. The only way to disprove this allegation is for the Gambian Authorities to open up the files and allow International investigators to come in or on the other hand with international legal pressure the said authorities are made to co operate with the said investigators . Ghana is a mature democracy and its leadership will not jump up with any flimsy bit of information to tackle such a monstrous allegation. I am sure they would not accept being simply brushed off like flies by Yahya Jammeh; rather they would stick on like glue or sniffer dogs till they obtain the correct evidence before they launch their moves. Till then brothers and sisters on line we have got to wait and hope that this matter is resolved in the best manner. I would also like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those unfortunate individuals whoever they were, May God grant the resting peace

Kaanibaa,
The Government's lack of co-operation by keeping mute over this brutal and cowarly action is a very serious and unconfortable matter indeed for all. There should be equal involvements and efforts from both Ghanians and Gambians Authorities at the higest levels to investigate and provide decent explanation. The Gambia being at the centre of this outrage has lots of questions to answer, our government therefore needs to do all it takes to clear our name, Gambians for that matter. Anything possible to give and assist the investigative authorities will be crucial for a meaningful solution to this problem. They therefore cannot just fold their hands and keep quite, the Jammeh Government deserves more pressures by all means necessary to open up on this matter now. |

This is truly what the Nigerian traditional people will call "abomination".
Indeed, so strange of a trend, so strange, so scary. That killing art is so foreign. It doesn't belong to true Gambians.
I don't care what those Ghanian victims did or were about to do, the number is still unbelievable.
I hope justice will prevail someday, even where some of us might/might not witness it then.
I also do hope the Ghanian people know we are with them, in mourning these victims of the callous crumbling pariahs of doom. |

Reports Gathered from video as follows:
Yaya Jammeh was recently in Sierra Leone to attend inauguration ceremony of Ernest Bai Koroma. We briefly managed to speak with him about allegations of his involvment in the allege murders of some 44 Ghanians in his country. Yaya Jammeh claimed as far as he knows no Ghanians have been killed by his government, as they have no reasons to kill Ghanians.
"We have found them in a coastal fishing village and what we thought was that somebody must have killed them and brought them to the shore. Now for The Gambia, we have no reasons to kill Ghanians. Ghana is the only country that has a community that have their own town run by Ghanians. As these bodies appeared within that vicinity; and we had to call the Ghanian community to identify these people. And they say they don't know them. And we announced it. We invited all honourary consulars in The Gambia and diplomats to go and identify these bodies. They were never identified.
The issue is vice c and has wide implications for both countries and the international community. And although Yaya Jammeh seem insistent the matter would not be resolved as easily as that with his claim of not having anything to do with it.
"I! kill Ghanians? Ghana that has been so generous to The Gambia. What hurts me most is that I have a very excellent relationship with Kufor and some/fromhow these bodies appeared from nowhere and we are accused. Why would I kill Ghaninas?
This is what The Gambian leader has been saying all this world ever since the issue was made public. A fact finding team was sent to the Gambia to investigate the issue and ascertain the truth. The team has been moving back and forth constantly hitting its head against...END OF QUOTE

Kobo,
There is need to assess the unspoken facts. Given the fact that since July 1994 Yahya Jammeh is best known for telling lies even about matters that the biggest fools know the truth, there is no occasion to give benefit of the doubt. This is not a credible account and no sane person must get near buying it. |

If you assessed the report from the video properly. There are privy to this case, which include the Ghana community in Ghana town and those diplomats invited to visit the bodies. The tapes on radio and t.v compiled by G.R.T.S when the announcement was made are very important. |

Their way of life is under governement intimidation. No longer allowed to dry fish in the village.
President stirring up feeling against African Migrants working in Gambia.
This is what I was told in Brufut by local people. |

Bieve, This news is very strange. I just recieved some snails from Ghana town in Gambia to be delivered to Adu-Boahene in Stockhilm. This means that the Ghanians in the Gambia are still doing as they have done before.I don't belive this news for the simple reason that telefon communications between Ghanians in Stockholm and Gambia does not say what you reported here. I am close and work hand in hand with the Ghana Union in Stockholm. I have even been discussing with Ghanians about the said killings here in Stockholm too, but we still belive that they were illigal migrants, until proofs come to point to the Gambian government. I even had a music group from here to Ghana in August. One of them is a Gambian. I have good contacts in Ghana and among Ghanian authorities. I hope you repiort the truth. Do you know how Gambians are treated in other African countries? |

I visted Ghana town last week. There is no fishing trade in the village. It is all moved to the coast on the instruction of the President. Local Gambians told me this.
There is still investment in the trade in fish, still the boats, still the smoke house. But there is fear and intimidation.
Even if they were illegals did they deserve to be murdered? Why not just send them home?
I have no idea how Gambians are treated in other African countries. I dont know what percentage of Gambians have a passport and travel to other countries. I would be interested to know this.
I am aware of people travelling to Senegal regularly. Usually to buy produce. One guy goes fortnightly to buy all the supplies for the hotel he works at. |

Bev,
The amount of sound trumpeting about these murders can't be mere speculation. From what I can understand, you are simply giving an account of what you saw. What you saw and heard is not your making, neither a choice. It is simply what your little eyes have seen and what honest people told you. Plus!! plus the thick layers of lies blown about by President Jammeh in attempts to mask up. Do read a recent posting on Gambia Echo to see another version; perhaps from someone who was closer to the ugly scene. For sake of decency, Gambians must dump this beast of a thing Jammeh, if that is what it takes to get the truth about the cruel murder of our African brothers. There is no justice to choose hiding this matter. Jammeh in thousand ways is still the filthy guilty culprit. Let him face the music. Even after Jammeh's death, this matter will never rest until the last criminal finger behind the ugly act is pinned on the ground to wipe the blood of our lost brothers. Jammeh is not Gambia and therefore his crimes cannot be accounted as national crime. They are personal crimes for which individuals are culpable, nothing less. |
